Boys: ELCO 102, Annville-Cleona 48 Scoresheet

Update: Both of Annville-Cleona’s Girls and Boys teams suffered hard-fought losses to ELCO last Monday.

Girls: Dutchmen took seven first place finishes.  Leading the way was sprinter Miracle Hershey who won the 100m and 200m races.  Her time in the 100m ranks her as the top female sprinter in Lebanon County through the first two weeks of the season.  Caitlin Shay won the 400m to round out a sweep of the first places in the sprint events.  Other winners on the track were Olivia Viozzi (800m) and Makenzie Stellmach (3200m).  In the field, Sage Sherk was the lone first place winner as she outthrew all ELCO competitors to take the full five points in the shot put.

Boys: The Dutchmen had winners in three events and relied on depth to pick up additional points.  Distance runners Landon Hostetter and Matt Clemson won the 800m and 3200m respectively.  The two would team-up as half of the 3200m relay team that started the meet with a win.  In the field, Senior Noah Gunderson won the high jump by clearing 6’, a mark that is tied for the best in Lebanon County so far this season.

Next Up: The Dutchmen are back in action on Tuesday when they will host Octorara whose teams are both 2-0 in early season action.

     Cedar Crest Falcons

Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1

April 3 v Lebanon

Girls: Cedar Crest 113, Lebanon 37 Scoresheet

Boys: Cedar Crest 110, Lebanon 40 Scoresheet

Update: This was the first dual meet of the season for Cedar Crest and wins here moved them to 1-0 on the season.

Girls: The Lady Falcons showed the depth that will make them difficult to defeat this season.  Freshman Eliana Schneider was a three event winner: 1600m, javelin, and long jump.  Lizzie Lowe also showed off her range, winning the 400m in 1:01.2 and then the 3200m in 12:51.1.  Sophia Rosenburg finished second in the shot put and discus, but her marks place her towards the top of the county leaders.

Boys: The Falcons had several impressive performances in their meet with Lebanon.  Reed Fretz won the 110m hurdles and the long jump, while also finished second in the 300m hurdles.  Nick Garman flashed some incredible speed, going 11.1 in the 100m and 22.9 in the 200m. Thrower Christian Weaber won the shot put and the discus.  Leo Tirado cleared 6’ in the high jump to set a new personal record.  This type of depth will benefit the Falcons throughout the season.

Next Up: Cedar Crest will make the trip to Hempfield twice this week.  The Falcons will be there today for a key Section 1 showdown.  They will then return to Landisville for Saturday’s Black Knight Invitational.

    ELCO Raiders

April 3 @ Annville-Cleona

Girls: ELCO 99, Annville-Cleona 51 Scoresheet

Boys: ELCO 102, Annville-Cleona 48 Scoresheet

Update: Both ELCO teams passed their early Section 3 test with inter-county rival Annville to improve to 2-0.

Girls: The Lady Raiders are still alive for their fifth straight Section 3 crown after earning a win over Annville.  While Annville limited their first place wins on the track, ELCO was able to find enough points through depth, skill events, and the field.  Jacey Hentz was among the most impressive on the day, as she took first in the 100m hurdles and the pole vault, while also finishing second in the long jump.  Hentz went 11’6” in the pole vault, which tied her for the school record with current teammate Carissa Bender.  A key member of the team, Bender won the long jump second in the 100m, 200m, and the pole vault where she cleared 11’.  Sara Miller won the 300m hurdles in an impressive 53.1.  Sam Nelson won the discus, javelin, and finished second in the shot put.

Boys: On the track, ELCO benefitted from strong sprint performances, as well as a gutsy win by Camden Marquette in the 1600m race.  Another performance highlight was Jake Williams running an 11.2 to win the 100m.  Alden Stickler won the long and triple jumps.  Jackson Conners and Luke Macchione combined for 1-2 finishes in both hurdle events.  Senior thrower Colin Daub found his groove and won both the shot put and discus in decisive fashion.  Daub’s mark in the shot put is 4’ better than the next closest thrower in the county thus far.

Next Up: The Raiders will host Lancaster Catholic on Tuesday.  Both Crusader squads are 1-1 in Section 3.

Top Female Performances Through April 5

     Lebanon Cedars

Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1

Dual Meet Records:

Girls: 0-1 overall, 0-1 in Section 1

Boys: 0-1 overall, 0-1 in Section 1

Recent Results

April 3 @ Cedar Crest

Girls: Cedar Crest 113, Lebanon 37 Scoresheet

Boys: Cedar Crest 110, Lebanon 40 Scoresheet

Update: The Cedars made the trip to Cedar Crest and put up some solid performances as they battled a very deep and talented group of Falcons.

Girls: The Cedars had six first place finishes in their clash with Crest.  Liliana Harrison put up impressive marks in winning both the shot put and discus, showing that she continues to be one of the best in the League.  Zariyah Whigham was also a two-event winner, taking the 100m and the long jump.  Yuna Mercedes won the 200m and Mileyshka Calderon won the 800m in 2:32.8, a time that is among the best in the county.

Boys: The Cedars no doubt benefitted from the high level of competition.  Ramon Urena Batista finished first in the 1600m and Brendon Shaak won the 3200m.  Both young men are ranked #1 in the county for those events.  Nate Trace broke the 40’ barrier in the triple jump.  Owen Arnold-Paine won the pole vault.  While there were only four first place finishes, there were several other outstanding performances by the Cedars, which will benefit them going forward.

Next Up: The Cedars have a bye week in their Section 1 schedule. On Saturday, Lebanon will be at the Hempfield’s Black Knight Invitational.

     Northern Lebanon Vikings

Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3

Dual Meet Records:

Girls: 0-3 overall, 0-2 in Section 3

Boys: 0-3 overall, 0-2 in Section 3

Recent Results

April 3 @ Donegal

Girls: Donegal 111, Northern Lebanon 39 Scoresheet

Boys: Donegal 99, Northern Lebanon 51 Scoresheet

Update: Northern Lebanon continues to build on their foundation, but could not keep up with Donegal as both teams moved to 0-3 on the season.

Girls: The Lady Vikings were able to win three events on the day.  This total may not seem impressive, but it is the events that they won that are telling.  Johbrianna Long win the 100m hurdles and Toccoa Boyer won the 300m hurdles.  Ash Rich won the high jump.  These events are among the toughest to teach.  As time goes on, the hard work the Northern Lebanon athletes are putting in will start to close those holes and make them more competitive as a unit.

Boys: Northern Lebanon took first in four events, including the 3200m relay to start the meet.  The Vikings took first in the 1600m and 3200m, courtesy of the hard work put in by Luke Hentz and Tyler Shunk.  Luke Schaffer also took first in the high jump.  There are some depth issues that are holding the Vikings back, but like the girls team, it is possible that in the coming weeks there will be some athletes stepping up to fill in those gaps.

Next Up: Northern Lebanon will be in Columbia on Tuesday to face the Crimson Tide.

Top Male Performances Through April 5

   Palmyra Cougars

Mid-Penn Conference – Keystone Division

April 8th  New Balance Pan-Ram Invitational – Results

UpdateBoth Palmyra teams earned victories to move to 2-0 on the season.  They then went on to have impressive performances at the Pan-Ram Invitation.

Girls: The Lady Cougars were able to come through a tough match-up with a win due mainly to the fact that they challenged for every second and third place they could.  These points proved to be the difference between the win and what could have been a loss.  Sophomore Delaney Miller won the 100m and then came back to finish second in the 200m.  Sophomore Avery Rohrer won the 1600m and finished second in the 800.  In looking at the scoresheet, this played out event after event.  Key in the win also were the performances of the throwers.  Jordan Palmer won the shot put and Vanessa Flores won discus. Sofie Price led a Palmyra sweep of the javelin.

Boys: The Cougars used depth in many events to overcome a challenge from Susquehanna Township.  However, when it came to first place finishes, senior Eli Becker led the way winning all three throwing events.  Freshman Cornelius Cummings was impressive, winning the 800m and 1600m races before then finishing second in the 3200m.  Like clockwork, Mason Bucks won the pole vault.  Sophomore hurdler Tyler Burgess won both the 110m high hurdles and the 300m intermediate hurdles, serving as a preview for what he would do at the Pan-Ram Invitational.

Next Up: Palmyra will be tasked with taking on two different Keystone opponents this week when they host Cedar Cliff on Tuesday and Mechanicsburg on Thursday.  The Cougars will then make the Saturday trip to Landisville for the Black Knight Invitational.
