Pan-Ram Track & Field Invitational: Palmyra Results

On Saturday, Palmyra Track & Field competed at the 34th New Balance Pan-Ram Invitational hosted by Central Dauphin.  The annual event has quite the reputation and drew forty-two teams from across the mid-state and the eastern half of the state.  Due to the size of the meet, each team was limited to two entries for each individual event.

The Palmyra Lady Cougars finished 6th as a team, with seven individuals finishing in the top-eight.  The highlight of the day came when Kaylie Groff cleared 11’ in the pole vault to claim a new school record on her way to securing a 1st place finish.  In the high jump, Lydia Stoner and Katherine Hartman finished 2nd and 3rd.  The same thing happened in the javelin with Olivia Appleby and Sofie Price claiming silver and bronze medals for their performances.

The Palmyra Boys also had a top-ten finish, as they placed 8th as a team.  They also had seven top-eight finishes.  Among the highlights for the Cougars was the way that the hurdlers performed.  In the 110m High Hurdles, Tyler Burgess and Jonathan McDannell finished 3rd and 5th.  Burgess returned in the 300m IM Hurdles to claim bronze.  In the pole vault, Mason Bucks took silver after clearing 14’6”. Fellow Cougar vaulter Zachery Morrissey came in 6th place.

The Palmyra Track & Field Team will return to action on Tuesday when they host Cedar Cliff.
