Boys: Annville-Cleona 88, Northern Lebanon 57 Scoresheet

Update: The Annville Girls picked up a season opening win over Northern Lebanon through a balanced attack.  Ava Hoover won the discus and high jump, while also placing 2nd in the shot put.  The distance crew flashed some of the talent that won them the District 3 Cross Country Championship last fall, sweeping the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m races. Kendall Cooper claimed victory in the 200m and 400m, while New Covenant co-op student Miracle Hershey won the 100m.

The Dutchmen Boys had to use their depth to defeat a pesky crew of Vikings.  Jomar Gonzalez- Allie was the only two event winner, using his speed to win the 100m and the 400m.  Landon Hostetter won the 1600m, while senior throwers Phoenix Music and Josh Lindsey respectively won the javelin and shot put.

Next UpThe Dutchmen will host ELCO this afternoon. In an early season clash that may decide the fate of Section 3 for both boys and girls.

Bruce Dallas Invitational

Update: Cedar Crest had a first week bye in their Section 1 schedule but made the trip to Cumberland Valley on Saturday.  Both the girls and boys teams had stellar days that showed that this might be a memorable season in South Lebanon.

The Lady Falcons finished 2nd at the rain shortened Bruce Dallas Invitational after taking three first places and setting just as many school records.  The 4x800m team consisting of Grace Tadajweski, Lizzie Lowe, Kaddel Howard, and Eliana Schneider might be an indication as far as the depth of this squad this season.  After the relay event, the freshman Howard went on to win the 400m and had a chance at also winning the 200m before the meet was called.  Schneider, also a freshman, went onto win the javelin, medaled in the high jump, and had a top ten finish in the long jump.  From a strategic point of view, having these type of athletes to move around helps to make any dual meet competitive.  Some additional information that Coach Bare will consider when making his line-ups: Jillian Tobias and Maggie Chernich finished the 3200m in 2nd and 4th, respectively, and Emma Spittle took 6th in the long jump.

The Falcon Boys also proved that they have some high-ceiling talent, along with a lot of really good athletes.  Headlining for Crest is Gabe Lewis, who showed that he is ready to improve upon his 7th place finish in the 100m at States in ’22 when he clocked a blistering 10.75 on Saturday. With a lineup full of speed, the Falcons also won Saturday’s 4x100m with a time of 42.6.  This type of athleticism also translates nicely into the jumps and the hurdles where the Falcons will have several point scoring options.  Much more will be known about the rest of the line-up after they face the Cedars this afternoon.

Next Up: Today, Cedar Crest will kick of their Section 1 schedule as they welcome the Lebanon Cedars to Earl Boltz Stadium.

Bruce Dallas Invitational

Update: Both ELCO teams won their meets over Donegal last Tuesday, however not much is known about how they accomplished this feat.  This could be intentional, as they could be playing it close to the vest in hopes of catching Annville by surprise when they meet today.  The one thing that was known by looking at social media was that Jake Williams won the 100m as he returned to the track for the first time since middle school.

While not much is known about the Raiders in the dual meet setting, they did put forth quite a showing at Saturday’s Bruce Dallas Invite.  On the boys side, only Camden Marquette competed in an event on the track, running the 1600m in a 4:44.1.  The top ELCO finisher overall was Alden Sticker who took 4th in the long jump.  However, when looking at the results it is clear that the Raiders have depth in the jumps with Luke Macchione and Harrison Kramer available.  Colin Daub in the shot put and Logan Kless in javelin will headline the throws.

Like the boys, we only know about the Lady Raiders when it comes to the field events.  Carissa Bender (pole vault), Julia Bidelspach (high jump), and Makenna Haas (triple jump), along with Jacey Hentz (pole vault/jumps), have all shown that they have the ability to take points in competition.  This does not even consider athletes like Sara Miller, who was not at Saturday’s meet due to a college visit.  With the athleticism to go with technical skill, these athletes give Coach Miller options when writing out the line-up.  He also can feel confident knowing that he has talented throwers led by Sam Nelson.

Next Up: The Raiders will travel to Annville-Cleona for a clash that may ultimately decide who will eventually win Section 3.

Boys: 0-1 overall, 0-1 in Section 1

March 27th @ Warwick

Girls: Warwick 98, Lebanon 47 Details

Boys: Warwick 76, Lebanon 74 Details

Next Up: The Lebanon Girls fought Warwick hard and put up some decent early season numbers in last week’s meet.  At the meet, Mileyshka Calderon won the long jump and came in the 2nd in the 200m.  Dimaris Rivera Colon won the 100m hurdles, leading an exciting Lebanon sweep of the event.  Dora Lopez won the javelin for the Cedars.

On the Boys side, Lebanon lost a very tightly contested meeting, while putting up some impressive performances.  Many of those performances came from the distance crew, led by Ramon Urena Batistawho won the 800m and the 1600m.  Brendon Shaak also won the 3200m.  In the sprints, it was Jalik Hill who won the 200m and 400m, both in quick times.  Nate Trace won the long and triple jumps for the Cedars.  With the move to Section 1, the hope was that they would rise to the level of competition.  If week one was any indication, this theory could prove true.

Next Up: This afternoon, the Cedars will take a short bus ride over to Cedar Crest to face-off against the Falcons.

March 30th @ Hamburg

Girls: Hamburg 83, Northern Lebanon 66 Scoresheet

Boys: Hamburg 80, Northern Lebanon 66 Scoresheet

Update: Northern Lebanon was the only team to compete in two dual meets last week.  While both were losses, there were some promising performances put by the boys and girls.

For the Lady Vikings, the number one thing that stuck out in the two meets was the talent in the hurdles with Johbrianna Long and Toccoa Boyer leading the way.  Ash Rich is also a versatile athlete who can score in the jumps and pole vault.  When teaming with sprinter Sarah Rich, Northern Lebanon has ways that it can put up points on its opponents.

For the Northern Lebanon Boys, the foundation for their point scoring last week was in the area middle distance/distance, with Aiden Bertrand, Luke Hentz, and Tyler Shunk showing that they can take points to keep the team competitive.  It will just be a matter of filling in some of the pieces that will add depth.  This week will give another glimpse as to how the Vikings can compete.

Next Up: This afternoon, Northern Lebanon will travel to Donegal, a team that lost both match-ups with ELCO in Week 1 action.

Bruce Dallas Invitational

Update: The Lady Cougars got off to a great start, defeating Lower Dauphin in Week 1.  While they did give up several first places on the track, it was the depth of this Palmyra team that allowed them to compete.  Lydia Stoner took a key victory in the 100m and Eli Schaffer won the 800m.  Abby Berarducci took 2nd in both the 800m and 1600m.  Sofie Price led a Palmyra sweep of the javelin and won the triple jump, before finishing 3rd in the javelin at the Bruce Dallas Invitational.  It will be interesting to watch how this depth factor plays out against different opponents, but there is one thing for sure and it is that this group definitely looks like it will get its share of victories.

The Cougar Boys picked up where they left off last year, hammering Lower Dauphin across the board in taking eleven first places.  As witnessed on Saturday, this team features some top tier technical talent in pole vaulter Mason Bucks and hurdler Tyler Burgess.  They also showed that they have replaced some of the speed they lost last year to graduation, as Jose Morales and Jacob Burgess have proven they have stepped up.  In the field, Randy Nihm won all three jumps (long, triple, and high) against Lower Dauphin, while Eli Becker won the three throwing events (javelin, shot put, and discus).  If they can continue on this path, they will be tough to beat.  This week will be another test.

Next Up: On Wednesday, the Cougars will host Susquehanna Township, who is coming off Week 1 wins over Cedar Cliff by both the boys and girls.
