District 3 Playoffs

6A: #3 Lebanon 52, #6 Manheim Township 36 – Playing for the 4th time this season in what was a rematch of last Thursday’s LL League Championship, the Cedars once again outdueled the Blue Streaks to earn their spot in the Semifinals. Unlike the previous match-up, Lebanon was in full control throughout the game, holding an 18-point lead at the half. The Cedars were led with 17 points each from Kailah Correa and Lili Harrison. Lebanon (24-3) will travel to #2 Dallastown on Monday night to play in the District 3 Semifinal. This is the 3rd straight year the two teams have met in Districts.

1A: #3 New Covenant 36, #6 Dayspring Christian – A slow start had the Flames down 15-10 at halftime. Out of the break, they began clicking on both ends of the floor to take the lead by the end of the 3rd quarter before crossing the finish line with the victory. Qynne Demler led the way with 21 points, but it was a solid team effort that included scoring from five of the Flames’ eight players. The victory also secured a spot for New Covenant in the PIAA State Championship Tournament. New Covenant (17-3) will play in the District 3 Semis at home against Lancaster County Christian. The two teams recently met in the CCAC Playoffs in a close matchup that was won by LCC. The Flames will be looking to reverse the outcome this time around.

1A: #1 Linville Hill 43, #9 Our Lady of the Cross 24 – OLC battled hard, but fell to the top-seeded squad from Linville Hill. Riley Hatzfeld scored 16 points for the Lions. Her scoring included four threes and a perfect 4-4 from the line. Sarah Ventura added 4 points. OLC (14-8) will now move the consolation round as they will play Monday for one of the two remaining spots to advance to States.

District 3 Playoffs

6A: #5 Wilson 50, #12 Cedar Crest 41 –

A strong 2nd quarter by the Bulldogs helped them to create distance between themselves and the visiting Falcons. However, Cedar Crest kept battling and entered the 4th quarter only down 34-31. Ultimately, timely sharpshooting by Wilson in the final minutes of the game ended up being the difference. In the 4th, the Bulldogs drilled three three-pointers and went 5-6 from the line. For Crest, Isaac Wolfe was the leading scorer with 14 points. RJ Young was also in double-figures with 10 points. Danny Speaks tallied 8 points. Cedar Crest, the Lancaster Lebanon League Champs, finishes their season with a record of 17-8.

1A: #7 Dayspring Christian 74, #10 New Covenant 39

6A: #3 Lebanon 60, #14 Cumberland Valley 44 – The Cedars were led with 19 points from Lili Harrison. Not far behind in the scoring was Kailah Correa with 17. Olive Brandt joined her teammates in double-figures with 12 points. Lebanon (23-3) will host Manheim Township on Thursday in a rematch of last week’s LL Championship. The Cedars will look to make it four wins this season over the Blue Streaks. Lebanon has now qualified for the PIAA State Championship Tournament for the 3rd straight year.

1A: # 9 Our Lady of the Cross 58, #8 Covenant Christian 57 [2 OT] – Down six going into the 4th, the Lions rallied to force overtime. When both teams scored 11 in the 1st overtime, they moved to a 2nd extra period. It was there that OLC edged host Covenant Christian by a point to earn their first ever District Playoff victory. In the win, Riley Hatzfeld was once again unstoppable as the senior posted 43 points. Hatzfeld’s scoring exploits included five three-pointers and a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line. In the 4th quarter alone, she scored 15. Also reaching double-figures for the Lions was Sarah Ventura with 11 points. Carolyn Frey tallied 4 points. OLC (14-7) will face #1 Linville Hill on Thursday.

6A: #7 Wilson 48, #10 Cedar Crest 39 – The Bulldogs used a strong 2nd quarter to create the distance needed to hold the Lady Falcons at arm’s length the rest of the night. Crest did not make it easy on Wilson, as they kept battling until the end. Lily Thomas hit three treys on her way to a team-high 13 points. Kaila Francis joined Thomas in double-figures, scoring 10 points. The two freshman starters Elli Malinoski (8 points) & Ali Groff (6 points) factored heavily into the scoring. Cedar Crest finished their year with a 13-10 record.

5A: #7 Conrad Weiser 42, #10 ELCO 39 – The Lady Raiders made it a game with a 4th quarter surge that included 5 points each from Kenzie Eckhart & Reece Woelfling. Unfortunately, Weiser hit a few too many free throws to hold on for the victory. Maddie Stout had a team-high 13 points. Eckhart finished the game with 12, while Woelfling had 10 points. ELCO wraps up the season with a 12-11 record.

5A: #4 West York 62, #13 Palmyra 51
