32 LebCo Wrestlers Medaled at the Lancaster Lebanon League Championships

 

Girls Basketball

ELCO 48, Blue Mountain 38 – With the score tied 24-24 at halftime, the Lady Raiders used a strong 3rd quarter to separate themselves from visiting Eagles. Leading ELCO were Kenzie Eckhart with 16 points & Maddie Stout scoring 15. Next up, ELCO (10-8) will travel to Northern Lebanon on Tuesday.

Northern Lebanon 55, Hamburg 39 – The Lady Vikings benefitted from a balanced scoring attack that landed three in double figures. Hayley Sheroky hit four treys on her way to a team-high 15 points. Kasey Weimer scored 13, including two three pointers, & Saoirse Phillips tallied 10 points. Hamburg’s Amelia Gassert had 22 points. Northern Lebanon (15-3) will travel to Fleetwood on Tuesday evening.

 

Boys Basketball

Annville-Cleona 58, Williams Valley 56 – The Dutchmen edged the Vikings to earn their 10th win of the season. The effort was led with 21 point, 7 rebound performances from from both Elisha Slabach & Jon Shay. Annville-Cleona (10-7) will travel to Lancaster Country Day on Wednesday.

Friday, January 24

Girls Basketball

Lebanon 68, Cedar Crest 44 – Kailah Correa scored 23 to lead the Cedars to victory. Lili Harrison & Olive Brandt each added 12 points, while Jae Burrus & Nina Harrison each scored 8. Leading Crest were Elli Malinoski with 13 points & Kaila Francis scoring 11. Lebanon (15-3) clinched Section 1 for the Cedars, their 3rd straight Section 1 title & overall their 4th straight Section Championship. They next play Tuesday on the road against Lancaster Catholic. Cedar Crest (10-8) will host Manheim Central on Monday.

Lancaster Catholic 51, Northern Lebanon 29 – Behind a 20 point effort from Nevaeh Kennedy, Lancaster Catholic got out to a sizzling start and kept the Lady Vikings at arm’s length the rest of the night. Saoirse Phillips led Northern Lebanon with 13 points, including going 7-7 from the foul line. Northern Lebanon (14-3) will travel to Hamburg on Saturday.

Mechanicsburg 48, Palmyra 36 – Mechanicsburg used a strong 2nd half to break away to earn the win. Addi Salus scored 11 to lead the Lady Cougars. Elyse Ancharski had 8 points, including two threes. Palmyra (6-9) will travel to Mifflin County on Tuesday.

Manheim Central 40, ELCO 37 – After being held scoreless in the 1st quarter and falling behind 12-0, the Lady Raiders kept chipping away at Central’s lead until the very end. Unfortunately, they ran out of time before they could take the lead. Kenzie Eckhart led ELCO with 19 points, an effort that included two threes and going 5-5 from the foul line. ELCO (9-8) will host Blue Mountain on Saturday.

New Covenant 58, Covenant Christian 39 – Qynne Demler scored 28 & Miracle Hershey scored 20 as the Flames won their 5th game in a row. Moriah Simniskis had 7 assists. New Covenant (12-2) will play at Ephrata Mennonite on Monday.

 

Boys Basketball

Mechanicsburg 64, Palmyra 49 – A strong response by Mechanicsburg following a strong start by Palmyra resulted in a road loss for the Cougars. Leading Palmyra in the points department was junior Micah Warner with 15. Braydon Bown hit three three pointers on his way to 11 points, while Alex Dorta scored 9. Palmyra (6-11) will host Mifflin County on Tuesday.

New Covenant 59, Covenant Christian 42 – Grayden Summers scored 18 & Alex Hart added 10 points as the Flames defended their home court for their 10th win of the season. New Covenant (10-7) will travel Tuesday to face West Shore Christian.

Manheim Central 69, ELCO 49

Annville-Cleona 5, Hempfield 4 – With the victory, AC has clinched a CPIHL Playoff berth.

 

 

 

Thursday, January 23

Girls Basketball

New Covenant 29, York Christian 19  – Qynne Demler scored 16 points to lead the Flames to victory in this defensive struggle. Miracle Hershey & Moriah Simniskis each had 5 points. New Covenant (11-2) will host Covenant Christian on Friday.

Pequea Valley 47, Annville-Cleona 38 – PV was able to overcome game-high 20 points by Kendall Cooper. Savannah Kleinfelter scored 8 to help the Dutchmen as they dropped a tough one. Annville-Cleona (11-6) will host Lancaster Country Day on Tuesday.

Our Lady of the Cross 58, Lehigh Valley Charter 55 – Leading the Lions was Riley Hatzfeld who scored 46 points, including hitting NINE threes. Sarah Ventura scored 11, including a clutch three pointer with just :27 left on the clock to give OLC the 56-55 lead. Our Lady of the Cross (8-3) have won seven in a row and will look to keep the streak going when they travel on Monday to take on Salem Christian.

 

Boys Basketball

Cedar Crest 66, Lebanon 44 – RJ Young scored 22 & Isaac Wolfe had 17 (four three pointers) to lead the Falcons to victory at home on Thursday night. The Cedars were led by Robert Santiago with 16 points and Derek Franco, who scored 11. Cedar Crest (12-5) will host Central York on Tuesday. Lebanon (6-13) will host Hempfield on Thursday.

Annville-Cleona 50, Pequea Valley 42 – Elisha Slabach marked his return from injury with a double-double, scoring 17 points & grabbing 10 rebounds.  Jon Shay led the scoring with 23 points & had 7 rebounds. Annville-Cleona (9-7) will travel to Williams Valley on Saturday.

Northern Lebanon 71, Columbia 69 [2 OT] – It took two extra periods, but the Vikings were able to fend off the Tide behind a 28 point performance by Brady Krall. Andrew Via went 9-10 from the foul line on his way to 15 points & Riley Messinger hit three treys to notch 13 points. Columbia’s Ladarian Miller had a game-high 39 points. Northern Lebanon (5-12-1) will travel to Hamburg on Saturday.

New Covenant 50, York Christian 35 – After trailing 24-17 at the half, the Flames used a strong 2nd half to break away from York Christian. Talan VanderPloog scored 21 in the victory. Alex Hart scored 7 & grabbed 14 rebounds. New Covenant (9-7) will host Covenant Christian on Friday evening.

 

Bowling

Elizabethtown 7, Lebanon 0 – Cam Buchmoyer led hte Cedars with a high game of 188 on his way to a 524 series.

Wednesday, January 22

Girls Basketball

Northern Lebanon 45, Susquenita 33 – After a hot start, the Lady Vikings found themselves trailing at the half before winning the 2nd half by a margin of 26-11. Olivia Shutter & Saoirse Phillips each scored 15 points, while Hayley Sheroky knocked down three threes on her way to 9 points. Northern Lebanon (14-2) will now prepare for Friday night when they travel to Lancaster Catholic with the goal of avenging a close 40-38 loss earlier this season.

Our Lady of the Cross 36, Linden Hall 21 – Riley Hatzfeld scored 13 points to pace OLC to their 5th straight victory. Carolyn Frey had 7 points, while Sarah Ventura provided 6 points. Our Lady of the Cross (6-3) will host Lehigh Valley Regional Charter on Thursday.

Lebanon 55, Governor Mifflin 49 – Kailah Correa hit four three pointers on her way to a game-high 20 points to lead the Cedars to victory. Lili Harrison scored 16, while Olive Brandt tallied 12 points. Lebanon (14-3) will look to make it seven straight wins when they travel to Cedar Crest on Friday.

Lower Dauphin 37, Palmyra 36 – The Lady Cougars nearly overcame the six-point deficit they faced going into the 4th quarter, but LD was able to hold off the challenge. Addi Salus hit two three pointers in the final frame on her way to leading Palmyra with 15 points. Mya Doster added 9 points to the cause. Palmyra (6-8) will host Mechanicsburg on Friday.

 

Boys Basketball

Lower Dauphin 60, Palmyra 42 – Braydon Bown scored 14, while Alex Dorta added 12 and Micah Warner had 10, but the balanced scoring effort was not enough for the Cougars to keep pace with their Keystone rival. Palmyra (6-10) will travel to Mechanicsburg on Friday. With six games remaining, they remain in the hunt for a District Playoff berth.

 

Wrestling

Boys

ELCO 58, Columbia 15 – Nolan Staudt, Aleric Raihl, Zane Trostle, Mitchell Fredrick, Klint Miller, Brinley Donmoyer, Kyle Miller, & Cody Landis all earned contested victories to help lead ELCO to the win over the Tide. With this victory, the Raiders secured the LL Section 3 Championship.

Northern York 33, Palmyra 24 – Kenneth Coles, Elijah Foltz, Jason Foutz, Tyler Detwiler, Trevor Carl, & Aaron Andrew each picked up contested wins for the Cougars, but it was not enough to overcome the Polar Bears on this frigid evening.

Northern Lebanon 55, Annville-Cleona 18

Lebanon 7, Ephrata 0 – Camron Buchmoyer led the Cedars with a 460 series and a high game of 169.

 

 

Tuesday, January 21

Girls Basketball

Cedar Crest 42, Lampeter-Strasburg 36 – The Lady Falcons got their 10th win of the season by going on the road to defeat the Pioneers. Kaila Francis led the scoring with 18 points, including going 8-8 from the foul line. Lily Thomas joined her in double digits with 11 points, including hitting two threes. Ali Groff chipped in 9 points, going 4-4 from the foul line. Cedar Crest (10-7) will host Lebanon on Friday night.

Cocalico 37, ELCO 32 – Maddie Stout scored 12 points for the Lady Raiders, but the Cocalico defense proved to be too much. ELCO (9-7) will look to get back into the win column when they host Manheim Central on Friday.

New Covenant 41, Lititz Christian 29 – Qynne Demler & Miracle Hershey each scored 20 points to lead the flames to their 10th victory of the season. New Covenant (10-2) will travel to play York Christian on Thursday.

Our Lady of the Cross 52, Harrisburg Academy 43 – Riley Hatzfeld scored 36, while MacKenzie Waters tallying 12 points in what was the 5th straight win for the Lions. Our Lady of the Cross (6-3) will face Linden Hall on Wednesday.

 

Boys Basketball

Lampeter-Strasburg 54, Cedar Crest 52 – The Pioneers were able to fend off the Falcons, even as Isaac Wolfe buried two threes and Danny Speaks scored 5 in the 4th quater. RJ Young led Crest with 16 points, while Speaks and Wolfe each finished with 11. Cedar Crest (11-5) will host Lebanon on Thursday evening.

Hershey 66, Lebanon 49 – The Cedars fell at home to District 3’s #1 ranked Hershey, now 13-1. In the contest, Derek Franco scored 15 points to lead Lebanon. Robert Santiago added 13. As a team, the Cedars shot especially well from the free throw line, knocking down 12 of their 14 attempts. Lebanon (6-12) will make the long road trip over to Cedar Crest on Thursday night.

New Covenant 62, Lititz Christian 56 – Grayden Summers scored 23 to lead the Flames, while Talan Vanderploog notched 16 points. The victory marked Coach Matt Kantner’s 50th career win. New Covenant (8-7) will travel to York Christian on Thursday.
