Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees
Emily Bearinger (Palmyra / Fr.) – Track & Field: Bearinger continued to make her mark as a freshman, highlighted by a 400m win at the Blue Streak Relays in 1:00.50. She also placed 3rd in the 100m in 12.99 against Lower Dauphin and has added valuable depth to a Palmyra sprint core led by junior Maddy Waldron, helping fuel the Cougars’ 4×100 success and another Keystone Division title run.
Peyton Elder (Annville-Cleona / Jr.) – Softball: Elder put together another productive week at the plate for Annville-Cleona. The junior went 1-2 against Schuylkill Valley, then followed with a 2-4 day against Lancaster Catholic that included a double and an RBI. For the season, Elder is batting .339 with 7 doubles, a home run, and 8 RBI.
Addison Kubica (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Softball: Kubica played a key role as Northern Lebanon clinched the LL Section 3 Championship and kept its momentum moving forward. The senior drove in 3 runs in the title-clinching win over Manheim Central, then followed with 2 hits, a double, and an RBI against Cocalico.
Ava Lantz (Palmyra / Fr.) – Lacrosse: Lantz sparked Palmyra’s bounce-back win over Gettysburg with a huge offensive outing, finishing with 6 goals and 1 assist in a 17-4 victory. The freshman’s 7-point performance helped the Cougars keep rolling and added to her growing impact in the attack.
Abby Nelson (ELCO / Sr.) – Track & Field: Nelson helped lead ELCO’s girls 4×800 relay to a medal at the Hoka Henderson Invitational, where the Raiders placed 8th in 10:57.68 against one of the strongest fields in the region. The senior teamed with Josie Winters, Sarah Badallato, and Paityn Newswanger to turn in a near season-best effort.
Bella Paquette (Cedar Crest / So.) – Lacrosse: Paquette powered Cedar Crest’s offense during another strong week for the Falcons, piling up 9 goals and 9 assists across wins over Ephrata and Conestoga Valley. The sophomore opened with 6 goals and 4 assists against Ephrata, then added 3 goals and 5 assists against Conestoga Valley as Cedar Crest continued its postseason push. For the season, Paquette has totaled 42 goals and 46 assists to lead the Falcons in points.
Cayleigh Shaak (Lebanon / So.) – Track & Field: Shaak turned in one of Lebanon’s top all-around performances at the Blue Streak Relays. The sophomore won the long jump at 16’1.25”, then added runner-up finishes in the 100m in 13.10 and the triple jump at 33’4.5”, while also carrying the distinction of being Lebanon County’s triple jump champion.

Male Nominees
Cole Doster (ELCO / Sr.) – Track & Field: Doster helped lead one of ELCO’s top boys performances at the Hoka Henderson Invitational, as the Raiders’ 4×800 relay placed 6th in 8:21.44. The senior teamed with Max Frederick, Cru Frederick, and Ben Macchione to earn a medal in one of the meet’s premier relay events.
Zac Frentz (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Baseball: Frentz stayed red hot for the Dutchmen with a huge week at the plate. The senior went 3-4 with a double, an RBI, and 2 runs scored against Lancaster Mennonite, then followed with a 2-4 performance against Lancaster Catholic that included a double, a home run, 5 RBI, a run scored, a stolen base, and a walk. He ended the week batting .525 on the year with 16 RBI and 5 home runs.
Travis Furmanski (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Track & Field: Furmanski delivered the top Lebanon County performance at the Hoka Henderson Invitational, winning the 1600m in 4:16.17. The senior closed with a 1:01.8 final lap and followed up his 6th-place finish in the 3000m at the Penn Relays a week earlier with another elite showing.
Aidan Long (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Baseball: Long helped Northern Lebanon keep its perfect season rolling while also locking up the Section 4 Championship. The senior fired a complete-game shutout against Lancaster Catholic with 10 strikeouts and no walks, then returned later in the week with 2 scoreless relief innings to earn the win against Pequea Valley. For the season, Long is 7-0 with a 1.51 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 37 innings pitched.
Jovannie Martinez (Lebanon / So.) – Track & Field: Martinez helped lead Lebanon’s boys at the Blue Streak Relays with a runner-up finish in the 3200m in 10:24.67. The sophomore turned in one of the Cedars’ top individual efforts of the meet against a strong field.
Adam Strohecker (Palmyra / Sr.) – Baseball: Strohecker delivered in a massive moment for Palmyra, blasting a late 3-run home run that lifted the Cougars past Lower Dauphin 4-2 in a game with major playoff implications. The senior’s swing helped push Palmyra into the top spot in the District 3 5A Power Rankings, and he ended the week batting .333 with 17 RBI on the season.
