Saturday, February 1st

Wrestling

District 3 Team Championships

3rd Place Match (AAA): #6 ELCO 33, #5 Boiling Springs 31 – Mitchell Frederick, Brinley Donmoyer, Kyle Miller, Cody Landis, Aleric Raihl, Kane Kline, & Zane Trostle each won their matches to carry ELCO to the thrilling victory. The Raiders will now wait to find out who they will face in the first round of the PIAA State Championship Tournament.

3rd Place Match (AA): #5 Northern Lebanon 35, #4 Biglerville 33 – The Vikings finish in 3rd place in District 3 AA. They finished the dual meet season with a 21-3 record.

Consolation Round (AA): #5 Northern Lebanon 45, #7 Littlestown 30 

 

Girls Basketball

Northern Lebanon 58, Middletown 57 – A close contest throughout saw the game tied at 47-47 with just under four minutes remaining. In the closing minutes, the 4A Vikings used a total team effort to earn the important victory over one of the best 5A teams in District 3. Olivia Shutter led the scoring with 17 points, including four three pointers. Hayley Sheroky & Kasey Weimer each scored 14. Saorise Phillips was also in double-figures with 10 points. Northern Lebanon (18-3) will finish up the regular season on Tuesday with a trip to Lampeter Strasburg.

 

 

 

 

Friday, January 31st

Girls Basketball

Palmyra 42, Red Land 33 – Following a slow start, Palmyra came to life in the 2nd quarter to build a lead by halftime that they would not relinquish. Pacing the Lady Cougars was Elyse Ancharski who knocked for a trio of threes on her way to a team-high 13 points. Aiding the cause by scoring 10 points each were Addi Salus & Mackenie Margut. Palmyra (8-10) will travel to Hershey on Tuesday.

ELCO 62, Garden Spot 37 – The Lady Raiders erupted for 23 points in the 1st quarter and never looked back on their way to victory. Leading ELCO were Maddie Stout who scored 18 points (three 3PTs) & Kenzie Eckhart (two 3PTs). ELCO (11-9) will host Lancaster Catholic on Monday before finishing up the regular season when they host Lower Dauphin on Thursday.

New Covenant 55, Harrisburg Christian 34 – Qynne Demler put together a solid stat line of 37 points, 6 rebounds, & 5 steals to pace the Flames to the road win. Miracle Hershey added 8 points & 7 boards. New Covenant (15-2) will finish up the regular season next Thursday against Harrisburg Academy.

Columbia 39, Annville-Cleona 34

Lancaster Country Day 49, Our Lady of the Cross 39 – Riley Hatzfeld nailed six threes on her way to 33 points, but LCD was able to overcome the tough challenge presented by the tenacious Lions. OLC (9-6) remains in the thick of the postseason conversation as they prepare to travel to Annville-Cleona on Tuesday evening.

 

Boys Basketball

Red Land 51, Palmyra 50 – Trailing by four entering the 4th quarter, the Cougars made a valiant effort led by Alex Dorta who scored 13 of his team-high 24 points in the final frame. The hot-handed Dorta connected on four 3PTs in the contest. Aidan Willard joined Dorta in double-figures, finishing with 11 points. Palmyra (7-12) will host Hershey on Tuesday. The Cougars are currently sitting on the District 3 Playoff bubble with three games remaining.

Annville-Cleona 53, Columbia 28 – Jon Shay scored 24 & Elisha Slabach added 19 as the Dutchmen won an important home game. With three games remaining, AC is on the District 3 bubble. Annville-Cleona (11-8) will begin. their final postseason push on Monday when they travel to Bermudian Springs.

Lancaster Mennonite 64, Northern Lebanon 41 – The Vikings fell behind early against the powerhouse Blazers, but continued to battle throughout. Riley Messinger led NL with 11 points. Northern Lebanon (5-15-1) will finish their season on Monday with a home game against Gettysburg.

Thursday, January 30th

Wrestling

District 3 Team Championships

Semifinal Round (AAA): #10 Chambersburg 34, #6 ELCO 27

Consolation Round 1 (AAA): #6 ELCO 38, #1 Conestoga Valley 24 – PIAA QualifierWith this victory, ELCO will advance to the PIAA State Championship Tournament for the first time in school history. Winning matches for the Raiders to defeat CV were Kane Kline, Zane Trostle, Bain Blauch, Mitchell Frederick, Klint Miller, Brinley Donmoyer, Kyle Miller, & Nolan Staudt. On Saturday at Central York, ELCO will wrestle #5 Boiling Springs for 3rd place.

 

Girls Basketball

Northern Lebanon 55, ELCO 43 – In what was a tight game all the way until the 4th quarter, the Lady Vikings relied on clutch free throw shooting to ward off the visiting Lady Raiders. Northern Lebanon finished the game connecting on 24 free throws. Kasey Weimer led the scoring wtih 16 points (10-12 FT), while Hayley Sheroky registered 14 points (5-6 FT). Reece Woelfling led ELCO with 19 points, an effort that included five three-pointers. Northern Lebanon (17-3) will host Middletown on Saturday. ELCO (10-9) will host Garden Spot on Friday evening.

Lebanon 56, Hempfield 44 – Kailah Correa led the Cedars with 23 points. Olive Brandt supported the victorious effort with 13 points. Lebanon (17-3) will wrap up their league schedule on Tuesday when they host Manheim Township.

Manheim Township 46, Cedar Crest 30 – Kaila Francis scored 13 for the Lady Falcons with Lily Thomas adding 7 points. However, it was not enough as the Streaks used a strong defensive effort to limit Crest to just 8 points in the 1st half. Cedar Crest (11-9) will travel to Penn Manor on Tuesday.

Veritas Academy 67, Our Lady of the Cross 35 – Riley Hatzfeld scored 29, including her 1,000th career point. The senior Hatzfeld has played in 31 varsity games. OLC (9-4) will host Lancaster Country Day on Friday.

 

Boys Basketball

Lebanon 58, Hempfield 45 – Derek Franco led the Cedars with 15 points in a scoring attack that featured three others in double-figures: Ben DiScuillo (11), Manny Suarez (11), & Ihab Abdallaoui (10). Lebanon (7-13) will travel to Manheim Township on Tuesday.

Wednesday, January 29th

Wrestling

District 3 Team Championships

Quarterfinal Round (AA): #5 Northern Lebanon 34, #4 Biglerville 27 – Carter Wolford, Sam Wolford, Karter Adams, Aaron Seidel, Christian Spencer, Sincere Perez, Vincent Battistelli, and Landon Graby were all winners as the Vikings advanced to the semifinals.

Semifinal Round (AA): #1 Bishop McDevitt 50, #5 Northern Lebanon 16 – The Vikings will move to the Consolation bracket where they will face Littlestown on Saturday. If they win, they will face the winner of Biglerville/Bermudian Springs for 3rd place & a PIAA berth.

 

Regular Season

Milton Hershey 55, Lebanon 12 – Erick Rivera Garcia, Wyatt Clawser, & Jaden Mongkon-Gill were winners for the Cedars.

 

Girls Basketball

Palmyra 47, Hempfield 43 – Addi Salus led with 15 points, while Mya Doster provided 13 points to help the Lady Cougars to the road win over their LL opponent. Palmyra (7-10) will look to build on their momentum when they host Red Land on Friday.

 

Boys Basketball

Lancaster Country Day 54, Annville-Cleona 45 – A late push by LCD allowed them to outlast AC in the key Section 4 matchup. Leading the Dutchmen were Elisha Slabach with 18 points and Jon Shay scoring 14. Hudson Sellers added 8 points. Annville-Cleona (10-8) will look to make a late season run, beginning on Friday with a home tilt against Columbia.

 

Bowling

Cedar Crest 5, Lebanon 2 – Paxton Thomas led Cedar Crest with a high series of 644, rolling games of 174-237-233. Omar Milete led the Cedars to victory in the 2nd game with a 225 on his way to a 577 series.

 

 

 

Tuesday, January 28th

Wrestling

District 3 Team Championships

Quarterfinal Round (AAA): #6 ELCO 33, #3 Northern York 30 – ELCO prevailed in the quarterfinals over the Polar Bears. Earning wins for the Raiders were Ashton Kriss, Brinley Donmoyer, David Nelson, Kyle Miller, Cody Landis, Aleric Raihl, and Kane Kline. On Thursday, ELCO will travel to Spring Grove to face #10 Chambersburg.

1st Round (AAA): #6 ELCO 30, #11 Central Dauphin 29 – Down by 3 going into the final match, freshman Kane Kline pulled off the victory. With all the bouts complete and the match tied 29-29, the tie-breaker went to the Raiders to allow them to advance in the tournament. Winning matches for ELCO were Zane Trostle, Ashton Kriss, Klint Miller, Brinley Donmoyer, Kyle Miller, Cody Landis, and Kline.

1st Round (AAA): #1 Conestoga Valley 46, #16 Palmyra 29 – The Cougars put up a fight over the #1-seeded Buckskins with wins by Jason Foutz, Nicolas Gordon, Nicholas Weidman, & Aaron Andrew. Andrew won his match with a 16-1 tech fall, while Foutz, Gordon, & Weidman pinned their opponents.

 

Girls Basketball

Lebanon 49, Lancaster Catholic 39 – The Cedars used strong defense to build an early lead & never looked back in this clash between two of the LL’s best teams. Lili Harrison led Lebanon with 21 on her way to scoring her 1,000th career point! Olive Brandt added 11 points, while Kailah Correa scored 10. Lebanon (16-3) will travel to Hempfield on Thursday.

Northern Lebanon 54, Fleetwood 12 – The Lady Vikings shutout Fleetwood in the 1st quarter as they rumbled to the road win. Leading the way were Hayley Sheroky with 14 points (three three-pointers) & Olivia Shutter scoring 13. A total of 10 players scored for NL. Northern Lebanon (16-3) will host ELCO on Thursday.

Annville-Cleona 36, Lancaster Country Day 30 – Kendall Cooper scored 18 points as the Dutchmen overcame a slow start (trailed 14-4 after the Q1) to pick up the win at home. Annville-Cleona (11-6) will travel to Columbia on Friday evening.

Mifflin County 46, Palmyra 43 – Mya Doster scored 17 & Addi Salus added 16 points, but it was not enough for the Lady Cougars as the Huskies defended their home court, coming from behind in the 4th quarter. Palmyra (6-10) will travel to take on Hempfield on Wednesday night.

New Covenant 44, West Shore Christian 19 – Qynne Demler scored 28 points, including three three pointers, to lead the Flames to victory. Miracle Hershey added 7 points. New Covenant (14-2) will be seeking their 8th straight victory when they travel on Friday to take on Harrisburg Christian.

 

 

Boys Basketball

Palmyra 40, Mifflin County 34 – Down 22-21 at the half, Palmyra worked to tie the game at 26 by the end of the 3rd quarter before a pulling away in the final frame. In the 4th, the Cougars shot 9-10 from the foul line, keeping the Huskies from closing the gap. Braydon Bown led the team with 13 points, including a trio of threes. Alex Dorta scored 10 points. Micah Warner had 6 points, including going 4-4 from the charity stripe down the stretch. Palmyra (7-11) will travel to Red Land on Friday.

New Covenant 54, West Shore Christian 51 – Alex Hart scored 17 & grabbed 12 rebounds as the Flames came from behind in the 4th quarter to win their 5th straight. Talan Vanderploog added 16 points in the victory. New Covenant (11-7) will travel to Harrisburg Christian on Friday.

Central York 87, Cedar Crest 66 – RJ Young tallied 20, Danny Speaks scored 18, and Isaac Wolfe had 10, but the offensive effort from the defending State Champs was too much for the well-balanced Falcons. Cedar Crest (12-6) will host Manheim Township on Thursday.

 

 

 

Monday, January 27th

Wrestling

District 3 Team Championships

1st Round (AA): #5 Northern Lebanon 67, #12 Upper Dauphin 6 – The Vikings will face #4 Biglerville on Wednesday.

1st Round (AA): #7 Littlestown 54, #10 Annville-Cleona 20 – Ollie Funck, Devon Englehart, Blaine Leitz, & Jaxon Speece each notched wins for the Dutchmen, but it was not enough to overcome the overall strength of Littlestown.

 

Girls Basketball

Our Lady of the Cross 56, Salem Christian 25 – Riley Hatzfeld scored 37 points & Sarah Ventura added another 13 as the Lions won their 8th straight game with this road victory. Hatzfeld is now just 13 points away from 1,000 for her career. Our Lady of the Cross (9-3) will look for win #10 when they host Veritas Academy on Thursday.

Cedar Crest 45, Manheim Central 35 – Elli Malinoski scored 18 points, while Kaila Francis added 15 & Ali Groff had 8, as the Lady Falcons won at home on Senior Night. Cedar Crest (12-8) will travel to Manheim Township on Thursday.

New Covenant 52, Ephrata Mennonite 30 – Qynne Demler scored 28 points to lead the Flames. Alayna Zimmerman added 10 points to the winning cause. New Convenant (13-2) will be seeking their 7th straight win when they travel on Tuesday to play West Shore Christian.
