Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees
Alison Groff (Cedar Crest / So.) – Softball: The sophomore helped ignite the Falcons’ offense in wins over William Penn and Palmyra to open the season. Across the two victories, Groff batted .667 with 4 hits, 3 RBI, 3 runs scored, and a stolen base, giving Cedar Crest a spark at the top of its lineup.
Ryleigh Hopkins (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Softball: Hopkins powered the Vikings’ offense in a season-opening 10-4 win over Twin Valley. The senior went 2-for-4 with a run scored, 3 RBI, a walk, and 2 stolen bases as Northern Lebanon broke the game open late.
Ava Lantz (Palmyra / Fr.) – Lacrosse: The freshman led Palmyra’s offense in season-opening wins over Warwick and Ephrata. Lantz totaled 8 goals and 5 assists on the week, first posting 2 goals and 3 assists against Warwick before erupting for 6 goals and 2 assists in the win over Ephrata.
Addison Nolen (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Softball: The senior was outstanding in the circle as Cedar Crest opened with wins over William Penn and Palmyra. Over those two victories, Nolen went 2-0 while allowing just 3 hits and 1 unearned run, striking out 11. She also contributed offensively against William Penn, going 2-for-2 with a run scored, 3 RBI, and a walk.
Chloe Shirk (ELCO / Sr.) – Softball: The senior led the Raiders at the plate during a 2-0 week with wins over Conrad Weiser and Pequea Valley. Shirk drove in 3 runs against Conrad Weiser, then exploded against Pequea Valley by going 4-for-4 with 4 runs, 3 RBI, a home run, and a stolen base.
Male Nominees
Adrian Gonzalez (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Baseball: The senior was dominant in Northern Lebanon’s season-opening win over Conestoga Valley, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just 4 hits and striking out 10 without issuing a walk. Gonzalez also delivered at the plate, going 1-for-3 with 2 RBI to drive in the game’s only runs.
Zach Martin (ELCO / Sr.) – Baseball: The senior came through in a key 6-3 win over Conrad Weiser, going 1-for-2 with a run scored, a walk, 2 RBI, and a go-ahead double in the 3rd inning. Martin also made a tremendous diving play in the field to help preserve the win.
Grant Reesor (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Lacrosse: In two wins last week, including a Section 1 victory over Conestoga Valley, the junior piled up 23 points on 18 goals and 5 assists. Reesor set program records against Dallas with 10 goals and 13 points in a single game, while also contributing 7 ground balls and multiple caused turnovers in the ride game.
Sam Rotunda (New Covenant / So.) – Boys Volleyball: The sophomore setter was vital to the Flames’ offensive production last week, finishing with 23 assists and 7 service aces. Rotunda’s command of the attack helped New Covenant generate points in multiple ways.
Jesse Willi (Palmyra / Sr.) – Baseball: Willi got off to a hot start as Palmyra opened the season 3-0 with wins over Deer Lakes, Elizabethtown, and Lebanon. The senior batted .714, going 5-for-9 with 2 RBI against E-Town, while also drawing 2 walks and reaching on an error for a .778 on-base percentage.
