Our Lady of the Cross 26, Lancaster Country Day 11
On Saturday, Our Lady of the Cross took a road trip to face Lancaster Country Day — and it turns out the winds really did bring in the Lions.
In the 1st quarter, OLC built a 9-3 lead with Jasmine Ambriz scoring 5 points to lead the way.
In the 2nd quarter, the OLC defense pitched a shutout as the Lions carried a 15-3 lead into halftime. Ambriz added 4 more points in the frame.
Lancaster Country Day hit back in the 3rd quarter, outpacing OLC 8-4. The key for the Lions was McKenzie Waters, who scored all four of OLC’s points to help protect the lead.
In the 4th quarter, OLC’s defense stepped up again, slamming the door on any thoughts of an LCD comeback. Offensively, Anna Harrison provided the boost with 4 points in the quarter.
In the 26-11 win, Ambriz led OLC with 9 points. Waters finished with 8, while Harrison added 6.
Our Lady of the Cross (4-14) will travel to Harrisburg Academy on Monday before finishing the season at home against Lehigh Valley Charter.

ELCO 36, Lower Dauphin 32
The Lady Raiders started the season 5-0. Then, disaster struck as senior Maddie Stout was lost for the year with an ACL injury. Without one of their two main scorers, ELCO struggled to regain its footing, going 4-8 over the next 12 games — a stretch that included a four-game losing streak. Still, even during that tough run, the Raiders showed resolve, giving a preview of things to come when they grinded out a win over Cocalico on January 20th. From there, ELCO dug deep, going 3-1 over the next four games, with the only blemish being a loss to Lancaster Catholic in which they stood strong against the perennial powerhouse Crusaders.
On Friday night, ELCO had a chance to finish the regular season with another win when they hit the road to take on Lower Dauphin. Sitting on the bubble, a victory would punch their ticket into the District 3 playoffs.
ELCO fell behind early as the Falcons took a 14-6 lead by the end of the 1st quarter. Adryana Daniels scored 4 points to keep the Raiders afloat, but Lower Dauphin largely limited ELCO’s offense otherwise.
In the 2nd quarter, ELCO recovered, trimming two points off the Falcons’ lead before halftime. Three-pointers from Riley Bennethum and Abby Ruth highlighted the Raiders’ offense, while Kenzie Eckhart was again kept quiet, limited to just 2 points in the first 16 minutes. At the half, Lower Dauphin held a 21-15 lead.
In the 3rd quarter, ELCO struck back with the suffocating defense that has become its hallmark. Limiting Lower Dauphin to just 3 points, the Raiders took advantage of the slowed pace as Addy Mays scored 3 points to lead the way. Eckhart was able to find points at the line, converting both of her free throws, and with ELCO finding offense elsewhere, the Raiders cut the deficit to just one.
Down 24-23 entering the 4th quarter, ELCO’s mission was clear: it was go time. With the season on the line, the Raiders turned to their senior leader — and Eckhart delivered. The 1,000-point scorer went for 7 points in the quarter, hitting two field goals and then delivering clutch free throws down the stretch. With a total team effort, ELCO surged past the Falcons to snag the comeback victory.
Limited for much of the night, Eckhart’s 11 points still led the Raiders, and she finished 5-for-6 at the foul line. Danielsadded 9 points, providing key offense in every quarter.
With a regular season record of 13-9, the win solidified ELCO’s District 3 playoff status. As of now, the Raiders are slotted as the No. 13 seed in the 14-team field.

New Covenant got off to a hot start, holding Lititz Christian to just a single point in the 1st quarter while scoring 19 of its own. Freshman McKenna Kantner scored 9 points in the opening frame, while Laney Zimmerman added 6.
In the 2nd quarter, the game was played a little closer, but the Flames still added to their lead and took a 32-9 advantage into halftime. Qynne Demler scored 6 points in the quarter.
Out of the break, New Covenant continued to dominate, winning the 3rd quarter 13-5. Kantner hit her second three-pointer of the game as part of a 5-point quarter.

Palmyra 58, Mifflin County 33
On Thursday evening, Palmyra hosted Mifflin County in a game postponed by last week’s winter storm. The Huskies won the first matchup on December 22nd, but the delayed rematch didn’t seem to hurt the Cougars’ appetite for revenge.
Palmyra got out to a modest 12-8 lead in the 1st quarter, led by 6 points from Addi Salus, who missed the first meeting due to injury.
In the 2nd quarter, the Cougars put some distance between themselves and Mifflin, taking a 30-15 lead into halftime. In the lead-up to the break, Elyse Ancharski poured in 9 points.
It was much of the same in the 3rd quarter as Palmyra outpaced Mifflin 15-6. This time it was Shay Rutter leading the way with 5 points.
Holding a commanding lead, Palmyra finished strong in the 4th quarter, with Mya Doster registering 5 points.
Rutter finished with a team-high 15 points, scoring in each quarter and knocking down two threes. Salus was close behind with 13 points. Ancharski added 9, while Doster and Kaylee Seltzer each chipped in 7.
Palmyra (13-8) has now won three in a row. The Cougars will wrap up the regular season Monday with a matchup against Carlisle.

Governor Mifflin 55, Cedar Crest 47
On Wednesday night, the Lady Falcons hit the road to finish up their regular season with a contest against a tough Governor Mifflin team. Cedar Crest also had to do it without standout sophomore Elli Malinoski.
The 1st quarter went the way of Cedar Crest, as the Falcons took an 11-7 lead behind three-pointers from Ryan Stopperand Ali Groff. Kaila Francis added 4 points in the opening quarter as she closed in on 1,000 for her career, entering the game needing 13 to hit the milestone.
The 2nd quarter remained a battle, but Cedar Crest scored 16 and took a 27-25 lead into halftime. In the frame, Paige Vandett knocked down a trio of threes, while Stopper hit her second of the game.
The 3rd quarter stayed a dog fight, with the Falcons protecting a fragile one-point lead by the end of it. Francis led the offense with 5 points, and on the front end of two free-throw attempts she converted for her 1,000th career point. Stopperand Vandett again connected from the outside in the quarter.
With the score 42-40 in favor of Cedar Crest heading into the 4th, Mifflin was determined to protect its home floor. The Mustangs surged over the final eight minutes, using strong defense to limit Cedar Crest’s chances as they took the lead — despite a three from Groff and 4 more points from Francis. In the end, the Falcons came up short in a hard-fought battle, 55-49.
Francis led Cedar Crest with 17 points, including the milestone bucket that put her into the exclusive 1,000-point club. Vandett knocked down four three-pointers on her way to 12 points, and Stopper also reached double figures with three threes.
Cedar Crest (12-10), the Seciton 1 Champions, will now turn its attention to postseason play, beginning with the Lancaster-Lebanon League playoffs on Monday night.

New Covenant 53, Ephrata Mennonite 30
On Monday night, New Covenant hosted Ephrata Mennonite on the backend of a doubleheader that saw the boys take down Fairfield in an exciting game. The girls gave the crowd a show as well.
The Flames roared out to a 21-2 lead by the end of the 1st quarter, using strong defense and a balanced scoring attack led by McKenna Kantner with 7 points and Qynne Demler with 5.
The 2nd quarter was played much closer, with Ephrata Mennonite actually outscoring New Covenant 11-10 in the frame. Demler scored 8 points in the quarter as the Flames still carried a commanding 31-13 lead into halftime.
In the 3rd quarter, Ephrata Mennonite further carved into the Flames’ lead, but New Covenant remained in control and still led by 12 going into the final phase of the game.
In the 4th quarter, New Covenant left little doubt as to the outcome, pulling away down the stretch with Demler scoring 8 points and Kantner adding 5. The strong closing quarter sealed a 23-point win for the Flames.
Demler and Kantner each finished with 19 points. The junior Demler, who knocked down three three-pointers, became New Covenant’s all-time leading scorer in basketball (boys or girls). Kantner, a freshman, also connected on three three-pointers in the game.
