ELCO 59, Fleetwood 14

On Friday morning, the Lady Raiders made an earlier-than-expected trip north to Pine Grove, where they faced Fleetwood in the opening round of the Pine Grove Holiday Tournament. Despite the 11:30 a.m. tip-off, ELCO showed no signs of a post-Christmas lull.

Behind 15 first-quarter points from Kenzie Eckhart, which included three three-pointers, and five more from Riley Bennethum, the Raiders surged out to a 22-5 lead. The offensive pressure continued in the 2nd quarter, as Eckhart added seven more points and Ava Beck chipped in five, giving ELCO a commanding 36-10 advantage at the half.

The defense took over in the 3rd quarter, holding Fleetwood to just one point, while Eckhart stayed red-hot with nine more points. With the lead stretched to 52-11 entering the 4th quarter, ELCO was able to coast to the victory.

Eckhart finished with a game-high 31 points, knocking down five three-pointers and going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. In total, nine different Lady Raiders found the scoring column, with Beck and Bennethum each connecting from beyond the arc.

Due to anticipated weather conditions, ELCO (7-2) will return to Pine Grove on Monday to compete in the Tournament Championship Game against the winner of Pine Grove Area and Shenandoah Valley.

Mifflin County 55, Palmyra 48

Despite the long bus ride, Palmyra got off to a strong start behind the hot shooting of Kaylee Seltzer, who scored 7 points in the opening quarter, and Elyse Ancharski, who added 5, as the Cougars built an early 17–8 lead.

Mifflin County responded in the 2nd quarter, flipping the momentum to take a 29–25 advantage into halftime. The Huskies continued to add to their lead in the 3rd quarter, despite a three-pointer from Emily Bearinger.

Palmyra made a push in the 4th quarter, cutting into the deficit as Seltzer and Ancharski each scored 5 points and Shay Rutter knocked down her second three-pointer of the night. However, the comeback effort fell just short.

The Cedars continued to add to the advantage in the 2nd quarter, this time with Nina Harrison getting involved offensively, scoring seven points to help Lebanon take a 20-13 lead into halftime.
