     Falcon Youth Football

Red Rose Midget Football League Age group information

B (5-2)         Falcons 21 @ Conestoga Valley Bucks 12

C (3-4)          Falcons 12 @ Conestoga Valley Bucks 13

D (2-5-1)      Falcons 6 @ Conestoga Valley Bucks 29

  • On Saturday, the Falcons made a road trip to visit the Conestoga Valley Bucks.
  • Taking advantage of a fast start by the offense, the Falcon “B” Team was able to find the end zone on multiple occasions.  Feeding off that energy, the defense stepped up and held the Bucks in check.  This was a key victory for the Falcons, as it earned them a spot in the Red Rose Playoffs.
  • The Falcon “C” Team fought hard, but lost a tight contest to the Bucks.
  • The young Falcon “D” Team took the field against a very tough Conestoga Valley squad.  The typically slow starting Falcons dug themselves a 21-0 hole by halftime.  Again, they came out of halftime a completely different team and almost immediately benefitted from a 45-yard touchdown scamper by Boston Speece.  While that was the only time that the Falcons broke the goal line, the defense also played much better in the second half.  Leading the defensive effort was Chase Reesman, who made a season-high 7 tackles.  In the end, there was much to be happy about for the Falcons, but the home team just proved too much for them to put a tally into the win column.
  • Up Next: The Falcons will finish up the regular season on Sunday as they travel to Eastern York.

This young squad may have been humbled a bit this season but it has improved all season long and is looking forward to putting in some offseason work to return back stronger next season.
  • In the most entertaining game of the day the Viking Pony team lost a one-score heartbreaker to Lower Dauphin. After recovering an onside kick to start the game, the Falcons scored on the opening drive to take a 7-0 lead. Just before the end of the first quarter, Jonathon Zimmerman had a touchdown run and extra point to tie the game.  Lower Dauphin struck next and were about to score again to make it a two touchdown game, but Braden Demler had other ideas and picked off a pass at the goal line to end the threat.  In the third quarter, Vincent Moyer scored on a 15-yard touchdown run, which tied the game at 14.  Justin Bennethum then recovered a fumble, adding to the momentum for the Vikings.  Lower Dauphin withstood the Viking efforts and were able to breakthrough with a touchdown halfway through the final frame.  Northern Lebanon came close to sending it to overtime, but could not get into the end zone.  This 21-14 loss ended the season for the Viking Pony squad.
  • In another defensive battle the Viking Peewees team earned shutout victory, which in turn earned them a postseason berth. Tied scoreless for most of the game, It was running back Luke Copenhaver who broke a 30-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to give the Vikes what they needed to win.  A pass from quarterback Mason Moyer to Coy Crane was completed to add the extra point. Lower Dauphin looked like they might tie the game at the end of the game, but again the Viking defense stepped up, this time in the form of a Titus Feagley interception near the goal line to give get the ball back.  The Vikings then ran out the clock.  The Vikings just made it into the playoffs, earning the 7th seed in a field of 8.  With six games this season decided by one score, the playoff tournament is wide open and the Vikings are looking to make some noise.  As the Phillies have shown, all you need to do is make it into the playoffs.
