This section was started as we have realized that we have a way to share some of the many noteworthy items that occur on a weekly basis. We get some of it out via Facebook, but keeping up with every item can prove difficult. We hope you enjoy this section. With last night’s 7-0 win over CD East, the Palmyra Boys Soccer Team clinched the Mid-Penn Keystone Division. Winners of their last four games, they finished their regular season with a 15-2-1 record.
Lancaster-Lebanon League Playoffs tonight:
ELCO Boys Soccer will play in the finals against Manheim Township. The start time of the game is 7:30 pm and will take place at Warwick. They earned their spot in the finals after an exciting 2-1 win over Lancaster Catholic on Tuesday night.
Northern Lebanon Girls Volleyball will meet Section 1 Champion Hempfield in a Semifinals showdown. The game has a 5 o’clock start time and will take place at Elizabethtown.
Speaking of ELCO Soccer, the girls lost a semifinals, overtime thriller against Manheim Township on Tuesday night, losing 1-0 on a deflected ball that got by goalie Sam Nelson. The undefeated Manheim Township unit is the #1 ranked team in the state according to the PA Soccer Coaches Association.
Doubles action in the District 3 Tennis Tournament is scheduled for Friday.
In the first round of AA, ELCO’s #3 ranked team of Ali Bender and Camryn Lehr will face Abby Davidheiser and Maci Rahrbach from Brandywine Heights.
On the AAA bracket, the first round matchup for Palmyra’s team of Nitya Patel and Marissa Nicholson are is Sophie Carson and Alex Gregory of Hempfield.
Now that the Mid-Penn Conference and Lancaster-Lebanon League have each held their cross country championships, it has been determined who has qualified to go to the District 3 Cross Country Championship on October 29 at Big Spring High School.
The following Lebanon County teams have qualified as a team or with five individual qualifiers (allowing for a team score):
– Girls: Annville-Cleona, Cedar Crest, Palmyra
– Boys: Annville-Cleona, Cedar Crest, ELCO
In addition to the teams who qualified, there were five individual girls and eleven individual boys that have earned bibs for the race.
Shifting gears to wrestling, the Lebanon School Board approved a girls wrestling team for the upcoming season. Lebanon Girls Wrestling is the 70th girls wrestling program in the State of Pennsylvania.
In collegiate golf action, the LVC Women’s Golf Team played at Limerick’s Turtle Creek Golf Club on Tuesday. Junior Emma Dissinger, a Cedar Crest alumna, finished 8th overall after shooting an 87 (+15). First-year frosh Olivia Bartal, a graduate of Lebanon , carded a 101 (+29) to finish 19th out of 38.
Playing for LVC Women’s Volleyball, Taylor McInerney was named this week’s MAC Offensive Player of the Week for her outstanding play. The Palmyra grad is currently a junior at LVC who has helped the Dutchmen to a 16-6 record.
Jordan Lasky, a first year women’s soccer player at LVC, scored her first collegiate goal in Wednesday’s game against F&M. As reported by Steve Snyder, while Lasky went to Wilson, she has a Lebanon County lineage. Her father Will was a standout basketball player for Annville-Cleona and the school that his daughter scored her first goal against, while her mother Lisa played softball for Lebanon and then LVC.
