Annville-Cleona Claims First-Ever County Tennis Crown

Under cool, but sunny conditions on Saturday, the county’s six boys varsity tennis teams gathered at Annville-Cleona High School for the 2026 Lebanon County Championships. By the end of the day, the host Dutchmen had turned in a historic performance, edging Cedar Crest by a single point to capture the program’s first-ever Lebanon County team championship.
Annville-Cleona finished with 9 team points, while Cedar Crest was right behind with 8. ELCO placed third with 5 points, followed by Palmyra with 4, Northern Lebanon with 1, and Lebanon with 0. The Dutchmen built that winning total with a complete showing across the lineup, collecting titles in three of the four flights contested.
The charge was led by Travis Hostetter, who claimed the #1 Singles championship, while Augustus Giurintano added another title at #2 Singles. Annville-Cleona also got a championship effort from the #2 Doubles team of Brent Meyer and George Maag, giving the Dutchmen the depth needed to hold off Cedar Crest in the final standings.
For Hostetter, the day carried extra meaning. Hostetter notched his 50th career victory in the semifinals, becoming just the second Annville-Cleona boys player to reach that milestone. He got there by battling past Palmyra’s Bodhen Gingrich in three sets, recovering from a first-set loss to win 4-6, 6-2, 10-3.
In the #1 Singles final, Hostetter again showed his resilience. After dropping the opening set to Cedar Crest’s Nathan Meng, he flipped the momentum with a dominant second set before closing out the match in the super tiebreak, 2-6, 6-1, 10-4, to secure the county title on his home courts.
Annville-Cleona’s second singles title came from Giurintano, who survived one of the most competitive matches of the tournament in the #2 Singles final. After taking the first set in a tiebreak, Giurintano was pushed to the limit by Cedar Crest’s Ted Doane, who answered by winning the second set in another tiebreak. In the deciding super tiebreak, Giurintano held on for a 7-6(3), 6-7(6), 10-7 victory to bring home another championship for the Dutchmen.
The Dutchmen also picked up a key title in #2 Doubles, where Meyer and Maag delivered another clutch performance. After knocking off Cedar Crest’s Sammy Zeisloft and James Myer in the semifinals, the Annville-Cleona duo capped its run with a 7-6(5), 6-3 win over ELCO’s Boston Weiler and Tim Drib in the championship match.
Cedar Crest pushed the hosts all day and nearly left with the team title of its own. Along with Meng’s runner-up finish at #1 Singles and Doane’s runner-up result at #2 Singles, the Falcons broke through for a championship at #1 Doubles, where Elliot Laster and Tyler Do claimed the crown. That pairing beat Lebanon’s Ryan Eachus Larkin and Jesse Lewis in the semifinals before winning the title match over Palmyra’s Connor Brandt and Jack Wilson by retirement.
ELCO also turned in a solid performance, highlighted by the doubles teams of Brady Habecker and Jevan Marquette, along with Weiler and Drib. Habecker and Marquette opened with a comeback win over Annville-Cleona’s Isaac Hostetter and Emilio Fuentes Garcia, while Weiler and Drib advanced all the way to the #2 Doubles final before finishing as runners-up.
Palmyra’s top moments included Gingrich’s trip to the #1 Singles semifinals and the #1 Doubles team of Brandt and Wilson reaching the championship match. Northern Lebanon’s Weston Sunday and Rhett Smoker also represented the Vikings in singles play, with Smoker advancing to the semifinals at #2 Singles.
With this important annual event now out of the way, Lebanon County’s tennis players will shift their focus to the final stretch of the regular season. For many of the competitors who appeared in Saturday’s county tournament, the day offered both a strong test and a chance to build momentum heading into the weeks ahead, as several players across the county continue to chase postseason ambitions.
