Falcons Stay Perfect with Home-Course Win at Fairview
Three Section 1 matches into the 2026 season, Cedar Crest has yet to find a team it can’t beat.
Hosting the latest Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1 match Wednesday at Fairview Golf Course, the Falcons took advantage of ideal conditions for a day on the links and once again showed off the depth that has carried them to the top of the section.
Cedar Crest fired a four-player score of 299 to finish 10 strokes ahead of Manheim Township and sweep the Section 1 field for the third consecutive match. Township finished at 309, Hempfield took third at 315, while Ephrata and Penn Manor tied at 335. Elizabethtown rounded out the field with a 364.
The sweep moved Cedar Crest to a perfect 15-0 in Section 1 competition.
While the Falcons owned the team leaderboard, Manheim Township’s Charlie Sheehan claimed the day’s individual honors with an even-par 71.
Sophomore Bryn Brandt continued her outstanding start for Cedar Crest, finishing just two strokes back with a 73 (+2) to take second overall. Through three Section 1 matches, Brandt has now posted rounds of 71, 73, and 73.
This time, however, two different Falcons were right behind her.
Senior Davin Kolter and sophomore Rory Smyth each fired a 74 (+3), tying for third overall. Their rounds, combined with Brandt’s 73, put three Cedar Crest golfers among the top four positions.
Senior Jackson Seidel added a 78 (+7) to finish eighth, completing Cedar Crest’s four counting scores and producing the Falcons’ 299.
Sophomore Drew Gebhard and junior Luke Usinger each added an 82 (+11).
It was another example of the balance Cedar Crest has displayed throughout the early portion of the season.
The Falcons opened the Section 1 schedule with a 304 at Sunset Golf Club, edging Manheim Township by three strokes. They followed with a 296 at Fox Chase and then went under 300 again Wednesday at Fairview.
Along the way, different pieces of the lineup have continued to contribute. Brandt has been a fixture near the top of the individual leaderboard, while Smyth, Kolter, Seidel, Gebhard, and Usinger have each provided important rounds.
Wednesday’s result gave the Falcons another five head-to-head victories and moved them to 15-0, putting Cedar Crest firmly in control of the Section 1 race halfway through the six-match schedule.
The turnaround will be a quick one.
Section 1 will play its fourth match of the season Friday when the teams travel to Overlook Golf Course.
