Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week. Linked below are the articles about our most recent winners of the award.
Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.
One vote per email address, per day will be allowed.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.

Female Nominees
Miracle Hershey (New Covenant / Sr.) – Basketball: The senior once again provided a key performance across all aspects of the game as the Flames won their District 3 Quarterfinal game against Dayspring Christian. Hershey finished with 5 points, 6 rebounds, 7 steals, 3 assists, & 3 blocks. For the season, she has averaged 12.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, & 5.9 steals.
Kristin Thai (Palmyra / Sr.) – Diving: At the District 3 Diving Championships, Thai finished 3rd with a score of 358.85. This performance earned her a spot in States for the second straight year.
Sarah Ventura (Our Lady of the Cross / Sr.) – Basketball: The senior forward came up big throughout the season, helping the Lions to a District 3 Playoff win. For the season, Ventura averaged 6.9 points and 10.7 rebounds. She registered double-digit rebounds in fourteen games this season, including 23 against Covenant Christian and 21 against Lancaster Country Day. In addition to her rebounding ability, Ventura’s defense and ball-handling skills were pivotal to the team’s success.
Kasey Weimer (Northern Lebanon / Jr.) – Basketball: In Friday’s District 3 Quarterfinal matchup against Berks Catholic, the junior played a key role as the Lady Vikings stormed back late to take the victory. Weimer scored 11 points in the game, but more important was her clutch performance as she went 7-8 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter.
Male Nominees
Aaron Andrew (Palmyra / Jr.) – Wrestling: At the South Central Regional AAA Championships, the junior finished 5th at 152 pounds. Andrew went 4-2 in the tournament, improving to 35-9 this season. His finish qualified him for the PIAA State Championships, joining teammate Jason Foutz, who finished with a silver. This is the first time since 1987 that Palmyra has qualified two wrestlers for States.
Oliver Funck (Annville-Cleona / Jr.) – Wrestling: The junior went 4-2 at the District 3 AA Championships to finish 5th at 127 pounds. Funck’s victories included tech falls in which he outscored his opponents 21-1 & 19-1. With his finish, he has qualified for Regionals. He is currently 34-8 this season.
Landon Graby (Northern Lebanon / Fr.) – Wrestling: Competing as an alternate in the District 3 AA Championships, the freshman took full advantage of the opportunity. After losing his first match in sudden victory, Graby recovered to win his next three matches on his way to earning a 4th place medal. This finish qualified him for Regionals.
Blaine Leitz (Annville-Cleona / So.) – Wrestling: Competing at the District 3 AA Championships, the sophomore went 2-2 to finish 4th at 172 pounds. In both his wins, Leitz pinned his opponents. He is now 29-13 and will be moving on to Regionals.
Kyle Miller (ELCO / Sr.) – Wrestling: At the South Central Regional AAA Championships, the senior went 4-1 to win bronze at 215 pounds. This performance by Miller qualified him for the PIAA State Championships, along with teammates Klint Miller & Kane Kline. Miller is now 38-8 this season.
Past Winner Update: Aaron Seidel (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Wrestling: Seidel won his fourth straight District 3 Championship. His win in the finals was the 199th of his career. This ties him for the most all-time in PIAA history.
Past Winner Update: Jason Foutz (Palmyra / Sr.) – Wrestling: Foutz was the runner-up at Regionals, qualifying him for States.
Past Winner Update: Kane Kline (ELCO / Fr.) – Wrestling: Kline finished 4th at Regionals. With his finish, he qualified for States.
