Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees
Kaddel Howard (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Track & Field: A historic 400m run highlighted another huge championship weekend for the senior. Howard won the Class AAA 400m in 51.48, the fastest girls 400m ever run in Pennsylvania history, then added the 200m title in 23.48 after setting the District 3 record with a 23.42 in prelims. She also joined Eliana Schneider, Makenzie Wamsher, and Ryan Stopper to help Cedar Crest finish 2nd in the 4x400m Relay in 3:54.17.
Eliana Schneider (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Track & Field: The senior produced one of the most complete weekends of any athlete at the District 3 Championships, winning gold in the Class AAA High Jump and Javelin while adding silver in the 800m. Schneider cleared 5’5” in the High Jump, broke the District 3 record with a Javelin throw of 154’1”, ran 2:13.65 in the 800m, and joined Kaddel Howard, Makenzie Wamsher, and Ryan Stopper on Cedar Crest’s 2nd-place 4x400m Relay team that finished in 3:54.17.
Mackenzie Stellmach (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Track & Field: When Annville-Cleona needed a closing leg in the 4x800m Relay, the senior delivered. Stellmach ran a 2:24.81 anchor split to lift the Dutchmen from 4th to 2nd, helping the team of Leah Tshudy, Paige Stoltz, Lucy Stellmach, and Mackenzie Stellmach qualify for States in 10:01.30. She also earned silver in the 3200m in 11:25.62 and medaled in the 1600m with a 4th-place finish in 5:25.96.

Male Nominees
Jaxton Barger (Palmyra / Sr.) – Track & Field: For the 2nd straight year, the senior left Shippensburg as a District 3 champion. Barger cleared 14’0” to win the Class AAA Pole Vault, giving Palmyra a gold medal and sending him back to States as one of the top vaulters in Pennsylvania.
Travis Furmanski (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Track & Field:The senior handled the distance double in championship fashion at the District 3 Class AAA meet. Furmanski won the 3200m on Friday in 9:17.92, then came back on Saturday to claim the 1600m title in 4:15.37, closing the race with a final lap of 59.36 to give Cedar Crest another District gold medal.
Luke Hentz (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Track & Field: In the final race of his high school career, the senior went out with a great effort against one of the toughest 800m fields in District 3. Hentz ran 1:57.52 to place 9th in Class AAA, finishing just outside the medals while closing his Northern Lebanon career with a strong race at Shippensburg.
David Moran (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Track & Field: Three District 3 gold medals made it a championship weekend for the senior at Shippensburg. Moran won the Class AA 800m in 1:55.13, added the 1600m title in 4:20.47, and then anchored Annville-Cleona’s 4x400m Relay team to gold in 3:27.65.
Landen Weaber (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Track & Field: The senior gave Cedar Crest a major sprint presence at the District 3 Class AAA Championships. Weaber medaled in both short sprints, placing 4th in the 100m in 10.79 and 6th in the 200m in 22.82, while also helping the Falcons’ 4x100m Relay team place 3rd in 42.27.
