Hardy, Reesor Make Program History as Cedar Crest Falls to Palmyra
The Cedar Crest boys lacrosse team came up short against Palmyra on Saturday, falling 11-5 in a Lebanon County matchup that still produced a historic afternoon for the Falcons.
While Palmyra controlled the scoreboard, Cedar Crest saw two juniors etch their names into the program record book, as Dexter Hardy and Grant Reesor each broke major single-season records during the game.
Reesor continued his standout offensive season by finishing with two goals and three assists, giving him five points on the day. His biggest moment came in the 4th quarter, when he assisted Hardy for the point that moved him past Michael Weaver’s single-season scoring record of 83 points, which had stood since 2015.
With the assist, Reesor reached 84 points on the season to become Cedar Crest’s new single-season scoring leader. He also tied Weaver’s single-season goals record of 52, which was set in 2016.
On the defensive end, Hardy made history of his own by breaking the program’s single-season caused turnover record. The previous mark of 41 was set in 2024 by Tanner Bruckart. Hardy finished Saturday’s game with five caused turnovers, raising his season total to 43.
That performance added to what has already been a record-setting season for Hardy, who also set the Falcons’ single-game record with nine caused turnovers against Hempfield on March 25. A caused turnover is credited when a defensive player directly forces an opponent to lose possession, whether through a check, an intercepted pass, a forced error, or a combination of those plays. For context, one or two caused turnovers in a game is considered strong defensive work, while five is an excellent performance.
In addition to the scoring from Reesor and Hardy, Jaxon Bechtold added one goal and one assist for Cedar Crest. Connor McCracken also scored for the Falcons.
In goal, Paxton Thomas turned in another busy performance, making 18 saves against the Cougars. Last week, Thomas eclipsed the 500 save milestone for his career.
Cedar Crest will now look to build on the record-setting efforts of Hardy and Reesor as the Falcons continue through the final stretch of the season.
