LebCo Athlete of the Week Voting: March 30 – April 5

 

 

Presented in coordination with Froggy Valley 100.1/WiLBuR 99.7 & Lebanon Federal Credit Union.

 


 

Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action.  While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.

Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.

While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.

While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.

Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.

Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor. 

The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees

Addison Hollenbach (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Softball: Across Northern Lebanon’s wins over Donegal and Upper Dauphin, the senior came up big both in the circle and at the plate as the Vikings improved to 5-1. Hollenbach tossed a complete game in a 2-1 Section 3 win over Donegal, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out four and also delivering the go-ahead RBI single in the 7th, then added two runs scored in Northern Lebanon’s 11-8 comeback win over Upper Dauphin.

Madison Long (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Track & Field: In Annville-Cleona’s dual meet against ELCO, the senior delivered a strong scoring effort in the jumps with a pair of season-best marks. Long won the triple jump with a PR of 33’4.5” and took second in the long jump at 15’5.5”, giving the Dutchmen eight points in a close loss while also posting Lebanon County’s top triple jump mark of the season at week’s end.

Maddie Nelson (ELCO / So.) – Track & Field: In ELCO’s key Section 3 win over Annville-Cleona, the sophomore swept the open sprints and ran on the Raiders’ winning 4×100 relay. Nelson won the 100m in 12.3, the 200m in 26.6, and the 400m in 1:01.57, then helped ELCO take the 4×100 in 51.7.

Bella Paquette (Cedar Crest / So.) – Lacrosse: In Cedar Crest’s matchup with Warwick on April 2, the sophomore filled the stat sheet with four goals, four assists, and nine draw controls. Paquette also caused three turnovers, impacting the game on both ends while helping drive the Falcons’ attack.

Rayven Soliday (Lebanon / Jr.) – Softball: The junior center fielder put together an outstanding all-around week for the Cedars, finishing 6-10 with a double, five RBI, four runs scored, one walk, and two stolen bases. Soliday also made a major impact defensively with 10 putouts, including robbing a home run against ELCO and throwing out a runner at 3rd base.

Maddy Waldron (Palmyra / Jr.) – Track & Field: Across three meets in five days, the junior sprinter continued to establish herself as one of Palmyra’s top sprint threats. Waldron led the Cougars at Red Land by winning the 100m, 200m, and running on the winning 4×100 relay, then followed that by winning the 100m in 12.91 at Mechanicsburg before placing 5th in the 100m at 12.40 and 4th in the 200m at 25.51 at the Bruce Dallas Invitational.



 

Male Nominees

Matt Eldridge (Palmyra / So.) – Baseball: The sophomore broke out in a big way for the Cougars this past week, producing at the plate and on the mound against quality competition. Eldridge went 4-9 with a home run, two doubles, four RBI, and three runs scored, then added four innings of two-hit ball with five strikeouts to earn a win over undefeated Lower Dauphin.

Owen Fahringer (Northern Lebanon / Jr.) – Baseball: Across Northern Lebanon’s wins over Lancaster Mennonite and Hamburg, the junior gave the Vikings a big lift near the top of the lineup as they improved to 6-0. Fahringer went 2-3 with a double, a two-run homer, and two RBI in a 10-1 Section 4 win over Lancaster Mennonite, then followed that by scoring three runs, driving in another run, drawing two walks, stealing two bases, and doubling in a 4-0 win over Hamburg.

Thaddeous Gilbert (Lebanon / Sr.) – Track & Field: During Lebanon’s season-opening meet against Manheim Township, the senior turned in a standout day by winning both the 400m and 800m. Gilbert clocked a 52.59 in the 400m and a 2:05.19 in the 800m, giving the Cedars two event wins against a strong opponent.

Davin Kolter (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Baseball: Against a solid Lampeter-Strasburg squad, the junior delivered a dominant start on the mound, striking out 13 over five innings while allowing just two hits and one walk. Even in a 4-2 loss, Kolter showed how tough he can be, and by week’s end he owned a 1-1 record with a 2.62 ERA and 21 strikeouts in eight innings.

Jon Moran (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Track & Field: In Annville-Cleona’s dual meet win over ELCO, the senior turned in one of the top sprint performances in Lebanon County so far this season. Moran won the 200m in 22.6, finishing just off the Annville school record while posting the county’s second-fastest 200m time of the season at week’s end.

Austin Smith (ELCO / Sr.) – Baseball: The senior was a steady force for ELCO in wins over Lebanon and Cocalico, contributing both on the mound and as a reliable bat. Smith struck out 11 over six innings against Cocalico, and by week’s end he had built a 2-0 record with a 1.45 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 19.1 innings pitched.

Aidan Willard (Palmyra / Sr.) – Baseball: The senior continued to impact games in every phase for Palmyra, doing damage with his bat, patience, speed, and arm. Willard went 3-7 with two home runs, six walks, five runs scored, five RBI, and five stolen bases, then added three scoreless innings with five strikeouts against undefeated Lower Dauphin.
