Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees
Janieya De Jesus (Lebanon / Jr.) – Softball: The junior left fielder recorded her first career hit against Cocalico and finished the week 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored, a walk, and a stolen base. De Jesus turned in a meaningful breakthrough week for the Cedars.
Emalyn Funck (Palmyra / Jr.) – Softball: Funck delivered one of Palmyra’s top performances of the week in a win over Ephrata. She blasted a 3-run homer and finished with 3 RBI, then backed it up in the circle by earning the win with 7 strikeouts over 4 innings. She also added a scoreless relief outing against Cedar Crest.
Elli Malinoski (Cedar Crest / So.) – Softball: The sophomore delivered a strong two-game stretch for the Falcons, driving in the team’s only 2 runs in a loss to Conestoga Valley before breaking out in an 11-1 win over Cocalico. In that victory, Malinoski went 2-for-4 with a run scored, 3 RBI, and a double, continuing to provide key production in the middle of Cedar Crest’s lineup.
Stephanie Palkovic (Northern Lebanon / So.) – Softball: Palkovic turned in a productive week at the plate, delivering extra-base power and consistent offense. She doubled and tripled against Lancaster Catholic, added an RBI double against Manheim Township, and then erupted for a 5-for-6 performance with 3 runs, 2 RBI, and 2 triples in a 21-5 win over Muhlenberg.
Annabella Pulaski (Annville-Cleona / Jr.) – Track & Field: Pulaski had a strong week in the javelin, winning the event at Susquenita with a throw of 98’5”. She followed that with a personal-record throw of 102’8” to place 4th at the Tim Cook Invitational.
Chloe Shirk (ELCO / Sr.) – Softball: Shirk put together a milestone week for the Raiders, continuing to cement her place as one of the most accomplished hitters in program history. Entering Friday’s game at Ephrata, she had already set ELCO’s all-time RBI record with 95 for her career, then added to it by launching 3 home runs during non-league wins over Conestoga Valley and Ephrata.
Male Nominees
Ryan Delvalle (New Covenant / Jr.) – Boys Volleyball: In a five-set thriller against Millersburg, Delvalle took command and led the Flames with 15 kills and 16 assists. His all-around effort helped New Covenant secure a key back-and-forth victory as the Flames finished the week with a 3-1 record.
Luke Hentz (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Track & Field: Hentz delivered a big week for the Vikings in both dual meet and invitational competition. He won the 800M in 2:03.9 and took 2nd in the 1600M in 4:42.4 against Annville-Cleona, then earned silver in the 1600M at the Herb Schmidt Relays in 4:34.94. He also contributed to relay finishes in both the distance medley and 4x800M.
Niko Kotay (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Boys Volleyball: The senior middle blocker delivered a huge performance in Cedar Crest’s 3-2 win over Warwick, finishing with 16 kills and 6 blocks. Kotay’s impact at the net helped the Falcons win a hard-fought battle against a strong opponent.
Landen Weaber (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Track & Field: Weaber turned in a blazing performance, winning the 100M in 10.5 against the top Lancaster-Lebanon sprinter from the indoor season. The time set an Earl Boltz Stadium record. He also anchored the winning 4x100M relay in 43.3 and placed 2nd in the 200M in 22.4.
Brett Wenger (ELCO / Sr.) – Tennis: The senior, ELCO’s No. 1 singles player, helped key a 2-0 week for the Raiders with victories over Elizabethtown and Lancaster Catholic. Wenger won both of his singles matches and both of his doubles matches as ELCO improved to 5-1 on the season.
Dominic Wentling (Annville-Cleona / So.) – Track & Field: Wentling put together a standout week for the Dutchmen throws group. He swept both the shot put (46’5.5”) and discus (145’3”) in a tri-meet at Susquenita, totaling 4 wins across two meets. He then placed 3rd in the discus at the Tim Cook Invitational with a throw of 147’8”.
Aidan Willard (Palmyra / Jr.) – Baseball: Willard turned in a big all-around week for unbeaten Palmyra, impacting games both at the plate and on the mound. He doubled, drove in a run, scored twice, stole 2 bases, and added a scoreless inning in relief against Bishop McDevitt. He followed that by drawing 4 walks and closing out an extra-inning win over Warwick with another scoreless inning as the Cougars improved to 6-0.
