Donegal 4, Palmyra 1 – For the Cougars, Kenzie Long score don a set-up from Alyse Lindenmuth.

 

Boys Soccer

ELCO 2, Blue Mountain 1 – Austin Smith opening the scoring in the 21st minute off an assist from Jevan Marquette. In the second half, Marquette found the net himself in the 52nd minute, finishing a setup from Ben Macchione to seal the win.

Northern Lebanon 3, Columbia 0 [25-19 25-13 25-17]

Manheim Central 3, ELCO 1 [25-21, 25-20, 18-25, 26-24] – For the Raiders, Chloe Shirk powered the attack with 22 kills and 3 blocks, while Keirra Sholl added 12 kills, 3 aces, and a team-high 19 digs. Julia Wenger directed the offense with 40 assists.

Penn Manor 3, Cedar Crest 2 [25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 20-25, 15-12] – Cedar Crest rallied from two sets down to force a tie-breaker against Penn Manor, with Madison George serving 4 aces, Caroline Heller contributing 13 kills and 8 blocks, Miley Hopple running the offense with 36 assists, and Emersyn Bucher anchoring the back row with 18 digs.

 

Girls Soccer

Palmyra 1, Bishop McDevitt 0 – Kenzie Long scored the game’s lone goal to give the Lady Cougars the win.

Boys Soccer

ELCO 5, Octorara 0 – ELCO dominated in their win, with Austin Smith scoring twice (assisted by Wyatt Gawrys and Ben Macchione), Ben Macchione adding a goal of his own, and Jevan Marquette netting two, including an assist from Macchione. All five goals came against Daulton O’Donnell, sealing a convincing victory for the Raiders.

 

 

 

 

Wednesday, September 24

Girls Soccer

ELCO 5, Pequea Valley 0 – The Raiders cruised to victory as Olivia Brubaker opened the scoring with an assist from Caitlyn Andrews-Weber, followed by two goals from Madison Nelson, one set up by Brubaker. Hadyn Boyer and Kenzie Eckhart (assisted by Riley Bennethum) added late goals to seal the win.

Lancaster Catholic 5, Annville-Cleona 0 – The Dutchmen battled undefeated Lancaster Catholic closely in the first half, surrendering a late goal to trail 1-0 at the break. The Crusaders doubled their lead midway through the second half, then tacked on three late goals to seal the victory.

Pequea Valley 1, Annville-Cleona 0 [OT]

Field Hockey

ELCO 3, Octorara 2 –The Raiders topped Octorara with goals from Meredith Noll (assist Megyn Noll & Addie Weiler), Addie Weiler(stroke), and the fourth-quarter game-winner from Reagan Zwally (assist Weiler). Savannah Gettle made seven saves in goal, with a defensive stop from Lilja Davis.

Donegal 4, Annville-Cleona 2 – Annville-Cleona showed fight in their matchup with Donegal, with key performances from several Dutchmen. Nora Hoover put AC on the board early, finishing a setup from Georgia Sellers, who later added a goal of her own in the third quarter. In net, Savannah Kleinfelter had a huge night, turning aside 28 shots to keep her team in the game despite a heavy offensive push from Donegal.

Palmyra 6, Northern 1 – AJ Walker opened the scoring with a first-quarter penalty stroke before the Cougars erupted for four goals in the third—Maddie Stahl, Jovie Weaver, and Maddy Waldron all finding the net, with assists from Madi Gingrich and Ella Detwiller. Waldron added her second early in the fourth, and Gingrich capped the scoring off a corner.

Penn Manor 6, Cedar Crest 4 – Despite falling behind early, Cedar Crest closed strong in a matchup with Penn Manor. The Falcons were held scoreless through the first three quarters as Penn Manor built its lead, but the fourth belonged to Cedar Crest. Sam Brown sparked the rally with back-to-back goals before finishing her hat trick with a third tally late in the quarter. Avery Lechleitner also broke through with a goal, assisted by Madi Stradnick, and later returned the favor by setting up Brown’s final score. In goal, Mikayln Weaber stood tall against relentless pressure, recording 20 saves to keep the Falcons within reach.

Field Hockey

Palmyra 9, Mifflin County 1 – Jovie Weaver led the Cougars with three goals, including one assisted by Addy Barger and another by Madelynn Witt, while Maddie Stahl added two goals assisted by Leigha Kane and Maddy Waldron. Additional goals came from Avery Mettle, Allie Fink, Leah Gephart, and Leigha Kane.

Girls Volleyball

Northern Lebanon 3, Lancaster Catholic 0 [29-27, 25-17, 25-14] – In Northern Lebanon’s win, Shea Moyer led with 13 kills and 3 aces, while Claire Borcky added 8 kills and a team-high 22 digs. Taylor Thompson and Anna Shoemaker each had a block, and Lyndsie Bomgardner contributed 29 assists.

Warwick 3, ELCO 2

Lebanon 3, Donegal 1

Palmyra 3, Trinity 1 [25-21, 25-23, 21-25, 25-13] – Offensive balance and strong defense powered the win, as outside hitter Hannah McInerney led the way with 15 kills, 1 ace, and 15 digs. She was joined by Jules Kautz (8 kills), Maryn Russell (8 kills), and Maddie Ross (8 kills), while setter Ashton Brandt dished out 41 assists and libero Kate LaChance anchored the defense with 21 digs.

 

Girls Tennis

Annville-Cleona 7, Northern Lebanon 0 – For the Dutchmen, singles wins came from Hafey, Tetzlaff, Espada, and Sirriannia, while all three doubles teams—Hafey/Tetzlaff, Espada/Long, and Sirriannia/Clyde—also claimed victories. Annville’s Nia Hafey, a junior, set a new school record when she notched her 64th career win.

Annville-Cleona swept the top four spots in the girls’ race, led by Mackenzie Stellmach (21:45.4), Leah Tshudy (21:45.7), Lucy Stellmach (21:45.9), and Caitlin Shay (22:17). ELCO’s Reagan Zwally finished fifth in 22:18.

In an intense matchup, the Annville-Cleona Dutchmen edged the Northern Lebanon Vikings to take control of Section 3. AC’s Oliver Funck led the way, finishing first in 16:56, followed closely by teammate David Moran in second at 17:01. Northern Lebanon’s Luke Hentz and Thaddeus Raub took third and fourth, while ELCO was led by Sawyer Shanaman, finishing in 19:42.

 

Lebanon v Ephrata/Conestoga Valley

Conestoga Valley 26, Lebanon 31

Ephrata 27, Lebanon 30

Conestoga Valley 27, Ephrata 28

In a competitive race at South Hills Park, Lebanon stayed close with their Lancaster County opponents, led by Sammy Hershey, who finished third in 18:11. Conestoga Valley won the day, narrowly defeated both Ephrata and the Cedars.

Olive Brandt was the lone runner for the Cedars, finishing the South Hills course in 29:54. Ephrata was the top team on the day, taking the top three spots led by Ella and Mia Pfautz.

Amber McCurdy led the Cougars with a 5th place finish, running 22:18.

The Cougars defeated both opponents, led by Cornelius Cummings who finished first overall with a 17:05.

The Cedar Crest Falcons earned a win over Penn Manor but were edged by McCaskey, whose Ruby Garner-Valle led all runners, finishing first in 18:35. Leading the way for Crest were Makenzie Wamsher (19:28) and Eliana Schneider (20:05).

Cedar Crest dominated the race, sweeping the top four spots with Travis Furmanski (16:20), Zach Margut (15:56), Wyatt Wolfe (16:58), and Hayden Snavely (16:59) leading the way.

 

 

 

 

Monday, September 22

Field Hockey

Annville-Cleona 4, Octorara 2 – Annville earned the win with contributions across the field. Claire Francis scored early off a feed from Nora Hoover. Francis added two more before halftime. Georgia Sellers tacked on a third-quarter goal, while goalie Savannah Kleinfelter anchored the defense with 11 saves to hold off Octorara’s late surge.

ELCO 1, Northern Lebanon 0 – The Raiders earned a 1-0 win behind a first-quarter goal from Meridith Noll off an assist from Addie Weiler. ELCO outshot the Vikings 14-0, while Northern Lebanon goalkeepers Orlaith Phillips (5 saves) and Grace Plankin (8 saves) combined for 13 stops to keep the game competitive.

Hempfield 7, Cedar Crest 4 – Cedar Crest came up short against Hempfield despite a four-goal effort from Bella Paquette. She scored once in the second quarter, added another in the third, and struck twice in the fourth to keep the Falcons within reach. However, the Black Knights’ Ally Rush netted a hat trick, while Talia Leber scored twice to secure the 7-4 win. Goalie Mikalyn Weaber anchored the Falcon defense with 16 saves against Hempfield’s 23 shots.

 

Girls Tennis

Lebanon 7, Ephrata 0

Northern Lebanon 5, ELCO 2 – Northern Lebanon topped ELCO behind singles victories from Emily Shuey, Riley Troup, and Morgan Niebauer, along with doubles wins by Shuey/Troup and Diaz/Niebauer. ELCO’s points came from Trinity Donoughat No. 3 singles and the duo of Baldwin/Donough at No. 2 doubles.

Palmyra 3, Lower Dauphin 2 – The Lady Cougars are now 10-1.

Girls Volleyball

Northern Lebanon 3, Pine Grove 0 [25-20, 25-17, 25-12] – Shea Moyer powered the Vikings with 11 kills, 4 aces, and a block, while Lyndsie Bomgardner added 5 kills and dished out 21 assists. Claire Borcky chipped in 5 kills, 4 aces, and a block, with Isabella Battistelli also recording a block. Defensively, Emma Marlowe anchored the back row with 17 digs.

ELCO 3, Lampeter-Strasburg 1 – 

Wilson 3, Cedar Crest 0  [25-9, 25-14, 25-23] – For the Falcons, Caroline Heller paced the attack with 4 kills, 1 ace, and 3 blocks, while Miley Hopple set up the offense with 6 assists. Defensively, Madison George anchored the back row with 10 digs.

 

Girls Soccer

New Covenant 3, West Shore Christian 2 [OT] – The Flames secured a the overtime win on a PK by Laney Zimmerman. Goals were also scored by Hannah Hubbard (assisted by Adrianna Yeagley) and McKenna Kantner (assisted by Elise Stoner). Goalie Stevenson made 16 saves to preserve the victory.

Annville-Cleona 8, Lancaster Mennonite 1 – Emma Shirk stayed hot with 4 goals and an assist, while Mikayla Sperlich added a goal and 3 assists. Valeria Russo netted 2 goals, and Addy Sanchez chipped in with a goal and an assist.

 

Boys Soccer

Lancaster Mennonite 2, Annville-Cleona 0 – LMH scored their 2nd goal in the final 20 seconds when the Dutchmen pressed in hopes of finding the equalizer.

Solanco 4, Lebanon 3 [OT] – Lebanon boys soccer battled hard in a back-and-forth contest with Solanco but came up short in overtime. The Cedars led 1-0, 2-1 on a goal just before halftime, and 3-2 late, but Solanco tied it with under two minutes left and netted the game-winner early in OT. Connor Hoffman scored Lebanon’s first two goals.
