LebCo Male Athletes of the Week: Tanner Feagley & Dallas George (Week Ending January 21, 2024)

Tanner Feagley

Competing in two different weight classes depending on matchups, Tanner Feagley went 6-0 during the week. In doing so, he helped the Viking Wrestling team to win over Annville-Cleona and then five victories in the Berserker Duals. His six wins consisted of five pins and a tech fall (mercy rule). This dominant performance during the week of January 15th turned some heads, as the senior grappler proved that he was a missing piece to Northern Lebanon’s hopes of adding to their team trophy collection. Among those who noticed were the LebCoSports.com voters, who selected Feagley as a LebCo Male Athlete of the Week.

Feagley has continued his tear. He delivered a key win over ELCO as the Vikings regained the Section 3 title, thanks to the added depth provided by him and some of his teammates. Feagley finished 4th in the 189-pound weight class at the Lancaster Lebanon League Championships. His tremendous finish gave Northern Lebanon some of the points that allowed them to finish 2nd overall.

With a record of 27-9, Feagley is now poised for both the team and individual competitions that await him in the postseason. In terms of a team goal, Feagley is focused on picking up bonus points in matches that will help them stay undefeated as long as possible. Their 12-0 record will be put to the test as the open Districts on Wednesday night with a match against Eastern York. Individually, he hopes that he can make his way to States for the first time.

While his focus is currently on Wrestling, it is important to note that he is also a member of the Track & Field team, where he is among the best Javelin throwers in Lebanon County. He was also a vital member of the Northern Lebanon Football team.

After high school, Feagley plans to attend college and major in Agricultural Business Management. However, those plans can wait because, at this moment, he is planning a trip to Hershey, both with his team and as an individual.

We wish Tanner and his Vikings teammates the best of luck in converting all of their hard work into a trip to Chocolatetown.

Dallas George

While scoring points is vital to winning basketball games, each team needs players who run the offense and can also lock down on the defensive end. ELCO has that player in four-year starter Dallas George. On Wednesday, January 17th, The senior point guard directed the Raider offense to an impressive thirty-six-point win over Donegal, in which he scored 12 points. The next night, ELCO traveled to Lampeter-Strasburg in a game they lost by seven. In that game, George scored 18 points, but more importantly, he was the tip of the spear in distributing the ball to his Raider teammates as they nearly fought back from a double-digit point hole. George added nine assists, eight rebounds, and four steals in the two games. These efforts caught the attention of the LebCoSports.com voters and led to them selecting him as a LebCo Male Athlete of the Week.

George is the type of hardworking athlete every coach wants on their team. When asked about his point guard, Coach Brad Conners said, “Dallas is the consummate team player, always looking to make plays for his teammates. He has been a standout defensive player as he usually guards the opposing team’s best ball handler.”

Already the ELCO career leader in assists (275) and steals (232), George is continuing to add to those numbers. This season, he averages 12 points per game while shooting 87% from the free throw line, placing him among the LL League leaders. He has also amassed 77 assists, 61 steals, and 60 rebounds. However, George has made it very clear that the only stat that matters is the number of wins the Raiders can achieve.

Last week, that effort continued as the Raiders continued to make a push at qualifying for the District 3 Playoffs for the second straight year, as they picked up another win over Northern Lebanon. In that game, George scored 6 points, along with eight boards, seven assists, and two steals, to help defeat the Vikings on Friday night. As a result, ELCO moved up three slots in the Power Rankings with just five games remaining.

It is the playoff push in which George and his teammates are most interested. Conners said of George, “His scoring has picked up as of late, and he’s beginning to play with more urgency as we head down the final stretch of the regular season. He really has been a force on the defensive end with his steals and ball pressure.”

George has not only been impactful on the hardwood for the Raiders. In fact, he has been an integral part of the ELCO Soccer and Baseball teams. In all three seasons, he has applied the same mentality as what is currently on display in Basketball. He was the ELCO Baseball MVP last season, then followed it up with being named a 1st Team Section Soccer All-Star.

Simply put, Dallas is in the family trade, carving out a legacy of his own. Friday’s win over Northern Lebanon was not just memorable for the fact that the Raiders moved up in the standings. This marked the final time where Dallas would face a high school team coached by his father, Chris, who is a former ELCO multi-sport standout athlete himself. Older brother, Tyler, followed in those same footsteps as a three-sport star for ELCO. His aunt, Stephanie George, a four-sport athlete was best known as a star golfer who went on to compete for Radford. At the same time, family dinners may have interesting conversations about where each ranks. One area in which he is confident he outshines them all, especially his father, is ping pong.

George plans to go to college while also continuing to play Basketball. He is currently looking for the right fit, as being ranked among the top students in the ELCO Class of 2024 has him well-suited academically to get accepted into most colleges.

While he weighs his future life decisions, the one main focus at this moment is leading his team to victory. We wish Dallas and the Raiders all the best as they continue the battle for a spot in Districts.
