Cedars’ Perseverance Shines Through in Road Win at Hanover
It’s true that Lebanon has had some growing pains this season, but on Tuesday the Cedars showed that perseverance pays off. Making the road trip to Hanover, Lebanon put together its most complete offensive performance of the spring, rolling to a 23-1 victory for its first win of the season.
The Cedars jumped in front right away with seven runs in the 1st inning. Aubri Pisano singled home the first run, Skylar Strickler followed with an RBI single, Jaiyea De Jesus and Kenidee Gilbert each drew bases-loaded walks, Athena Griffiths was hit by a pitch to force in another run, and Makenzie Swisher added a two-run single to give Lebanon early control.
Lebanon kept the pressure on in the 2nd, scoring seven more runs on four hits. Tatiana Franco singled in a run, Gilbertdrew another run-scoring walk, Griffiths added an RBI single, an error brought home two more runs, Pisano singled in another, and Strickler walked with the bases loaded to stretch the lead.
The Cedars added another run in the 3rd when Swisher singled, then broke the game open again with eight runs in the 4th. Gilbert was hit by a pitch to drive in a run, Griffiths singled home another, Swisher was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Nina Lampkin doubled to clear the bases, and Strickler capped the inning with a two-run single.
In the circle, Layla Mailloux earned the win for Lebanon. She allowed four hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking two while giving the Cedars a steady outing to match their offensive breakout.
Lebanon finished with twelve hits and also showed patience at the plate, drawing thirteen walks. Pisano led the way by going 3-3, while Strickler and Swisher each drove in four runs. Griffiths went 2-3 with three RBI, and the Cedars played clean defensively, finishing without an error.
For Hanover, Jaydyn Epley drove in the team’s run while going 1-2. Mckenna Hess, Lillian Wagaman, and Eliena Camilo also collected hits, while Leah Wildason scored the run for the Nighthawks.
With their first victory of the season, the Cedars are now 1-17 with two games remaining. They will wrap up their 2026 campaign with a road game Friday at Columbia followed by a game against Milton Hershey next Monday.
