Serrano Fans 14, Leads Cedars to Long-Awaited Victory

It had been a long road for Lebanon, but the Cedars finally got the reward they had been chasing all season.

After entering Monday’s home game against Milton Hershey on an 18-game losing streak, Lebanon broke through with a 7-0 win behind a dominant pitching effort and an early offensive surge.

Diego Serrano set the tone on the mound, striking out 14 while allowing just 1 hit over 6 scoreless innings. Ryant Rivera finished it off in relief, throwing a clean 7th with 2 strikeouts to complete the combined shutout.

Lebanon took control right away with 5 runs in the bottom of the 1st. Rivera drew a walk to bring in the game’s first run, Kaeler Ortiz followed with an RBI groundout, Owen Krouse walked to force in another run, a passed ball brought home another, and Gyanni Arnt added an RBI single to give the Cedars a 5-0 lead.

The Cedars added 2 more runs in the 3rd when Justin Miranda singled down the right-field line and Hemne Cortesgrounded out, each bringing in a run to stretch the lead to 7-0.

At the plate, Miranda led Lebanon from the No. 7 spot, going 2-3 with a run and an RBI. Serrano, Nyzaiah Rojas, and Gyanni Arnt each added hits as the Cedars finished with 6 hits and stole 5 bases.

For Milton Hershey, Deven Carbonell had the Spartans’ lone hit and also stole 3 bases.

Lebanon (1-18) will finish its season Tuesday when the Cedars host Northern Lebanon.
