Prelude

Here is our 2025 preview of our local guys who are playing college baseball. This year, we will order the players by their class and then alphabetically. The exception will be when a player is listed in our Featured Player or Featured Pitcher spotlight. We’ve also added player banners that show the player’s name, high school, and college conference. We will continue to link stats and the upcoming schedule for each player, as well as photos and videos when they are available.

Many colleges and universities will live stream games, often for free, so you can watch from far away and in the warmth of your own home. Visit the “Upcoming Schedule” link for the player, and streaming will be self-explanatory. Of the schools we track, only Monmouth requires a paid subscription, like most Division 1 programs.

The Players

Class of 2020/2021

Season Stats  / Upcoming Schedule

Messiah University senior infielder Dylan Beard split time at DH and second base, picking up a MAC Commonwealth Honorable Mention for his work in the infield. His dramatic three-run home run in an elimination game against York College highlighted a playoff run in which he batted .391 with five runs and eight RBI in six games. Beard finished the season with a .329 average, three home runs, thirty seven RBI and a .400 on base percentage as Messiah completed an historic season with multiple team records, including 35 wins in 46 games. The senior returns to the position for which he was recruited, first base, as the Falcons play a schedule consistent with their national stage aspirations, including perennially ranked teams (pre-season NCAA Rankings listed) like #11 Christopher Newport, #16 Randolph-Macon, #6 Johns Hopkins, #25 Penn State-Harrisburg, and #7 Salisbury, a topic that was addressed on The Lebanon Longshots Podcast.  Messiah visits Lebanon Valley College on April 1.

Following a couple years coming out of the bullpen, Senior Jeremy Eck is now slated as a position player. Likely plying his trade as a catcher, where his outstanding receiving and throwing skills will make him a pitching staff favorite, Eck looks to finish strong where he started his college career.

Shortstop Amani Jones returns by virtue of a COVID year due to a shortened freshman campaign at Stevenson. Jones started the year at the top of the order for Coach Jon Sheehan and split time as the second leadoff out of the nine hole. Sporting a .366 on base percentage and a solid 14 stolen bases in 18 attempts, Jones should expect a workload of nearly 200 plate appearances and plenty of action as a stellar glove man (.926 FPCT) for the #22 Marauders.

Following two years at JuCo D2 Mercer Community College in New Jersey, OF Dalton Reinhart took his first AB as an NCAA player and launched a two run home run, nearly instantly solidifying himself as a fixture in the lineup. He started thirty three games for a Mustangs team that lacked starting pitching and finished Second Team All Conference as a Utility Player. Reinhart slots in as middle of the order bat at RF or 1B.

A fully healthy RHP Dakota Smith will be a welcome addition to the FCC Cougars staff.

Thomas Zeigler returns for his senior year with Messiah in an outfield role on a team that has its sights set on the national stage.

Class of 2022

Following a season in which he named Northampton Community College Male Athlete of the Year, Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Player of the Year, National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 19 Pitcher of the Year, and NJCAA First Team All American, the RHP is on staff at Monmouth University, a D1 in the Coastal Athletic Association. In whatever role he serves, starter or bullpen arm, the new Monmouth Hawk looks to use his swing and miss stuff—104 strikeouts in 71.1 innings pitched in 2024—to get hitters out for veteran skipper Dean Ehehalt. Beard appeared on the Lebanon Longshots Podcast earlier this year to discuss his experiences.

Following two years of limited action at Penn State – Harrisburg, left handed flame thrower Braden Collazo transferred to Penn State – Schuylkill under former Phillies farm hand and second year head Coach Nick Evangelista. Evangelista figures to utilize Collazo’s power arm in a variety of roles at “the Skook” remains in the national conversation of the USCAA.

The York College Spartans 2025 schedule includes perennial powerhouse teams like Catholic University, Lynchburg, Shenandoah, Randolph-Macon, and Salisbury. They also face off against Penn State – Harrisburg and defending national champion Misericordia, both at home on March 11-12 respectively. Despite a stellar freshman season in ’23, Deimling found himself in a reserve role behind an injury returnee who hit a ton. Still, Deimling got hot leading up to conference playoffs, including a nine-day stretch of seven games in which he knocked in eleven runs. including  4 RBI against Shenandoah. Deimling figures to play a big role as a junior in Coach Michael Scappa’s resilient York team.

LHP Caleb Fisher was named to the Region XX All Maryland JuCo Team for his 2024 performance in which he led the Chesapeake Community College Skipjacks staff as their ace. He should see plenty of innings for the Pacers in the competitive Atlantic East Conference.

After battling some early season injury issues, 2B Deklyn Marks added some excitement to an improving Albright team, notching a mid season walk off against MAC Commonwealth foe Stevenson University. Marks looks to return to his 2023 role as a starter and mid-lineup fixture in 2025.

Following a year with limited action at CCBC Essex, C/1B Robbie Best transferred to the College of Southern Maryland, a D2 JuCo in Region XX.

Byerly did not see action in 2024 for the Marlins.

Bronson Coburn earned second team honors for the National Christian College Athletic Association for his freshman campaign on the mound in a year that saw him throw 37.2 innings with a 3-1 record, with three saves. Coburn figures to be an integral part of the pitching staff for LBC with the loss of workhorses Andrew Workman and Blake Greeley as well as older brother Brian Coburn.

Sophomore infielder Jared Ecenroad put up stout numbers in limited action, batting .364 in 27 plate appearances, including his first home run in a late season game against eventual Mid Atlantic Conference Commonwealth champs Alvernia. DelVal hopes to improve on a 4-17 record in the tough MAC Freedom Conference.

CPC just missed the playoffs due to a couple late season missteps, but Lowen swiped a dozen bags and  got on base at a .446 clip while seeing action in the middle infield. The Knights have a new head coach, former CD East head coach Charles “Chaz” Stevens who replaces Bob Stearns.

1B Nick Pagano saw limited action at 1B behind a COVID player in his grad year who also led the team in most offensive categories. Pagano’s bat will play at the level if he is afforded opportunity.

Polanco did not pitch for LVC in 2024. Fully healthy, he should figure in Coach Jonas Fester’s plan for the Dutchmen who are coming off a down year in which they were riddled with injuries to key players.
