Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees
Addie Barger (Palmyra / Jr.) – Field Hockey: The junior totaled 4 goals and 2 assists while helping Palmyra go 3-0 during the week. Barger scored in the Cougars’ 6-2 victory over Red Land, recorded a hat trick in an 8-1 win over Cedar Cliff, and supplied 2 assists as Palmyra shut out Northwestern Lehigh 6-0 to remain undefeated.
Emersyn Bucher (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Girls Volleyball: The junior was one of Cedar Crest’s most productive offensive players during the week. Bucher recorded 12 kills against Elizabethtown as part of a strong stretch at outside hitter for the Falcons.
Trinity Donough (ELCO / Jr.) – Girls Tennis: The junior captured the No. 2 singles championship at the Lebanon County Girls Tennis Championships over the weekend, earning an individual county title for the Raiders.
Claire Francis (Annville-Cleona / Jr.) – Field Hockey: The junior totaled 3 goals and 3 assists while helping Annville-Cleona go 2-0 to begin section play. Francis played a key role in the Dutchmen’s victory over Lancaster Catholic, ending the Crusaders’ streak of more than 30 consecutive regular-season victories.
Zoey Gonzalez (Lebanon / Fr.) – Girls Soccer: The freshman accounted for all of Lebanon’s scoring in Wednesday’s 2-1 road victory over McCaskey. Gonzalez scored both goals to help the Cedars come away with the Section 1 road win.
Ryelee Mullen (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Girls Soccer: The senior goalkeeper helped Northern Lebanon go unbeaten across 3 matches, earning a win over Solanco before draws with Donegal and Tri-Valley. Mullen made 8 saves against Solanco and followed with 9 saves in a scoreless draw against Donegal. Through 8 games this season, Mullen has recorded 39 saves while allowing 12 goals.
Male Nominees
Connor Brandt (Palmyra / Sr.) – Boys Soccer: The senior captain anchored a Palmyra defensive unit that recorded 2 clean sheets during the week. Brandt helped the Cougars open the week with a 0-0 draw against Mifflin County and continued to provide steady leadership along the back line.
Landon Copenhaver (Northern Lebanon / Jr.) – Football: The junior contributed on both sides of the ball as Northern Lebanon remained unbeaten with Friday’s 25-20 road victory over Minersville. Copenhaver caught 5 passes for 68 yards, including a 29-yard touchdown, while adding 7 tackles and 2 tackles for loss defensively.
Lincoln Hess (New Covenant / Sr.) – Boys Soccer: The senior totaled 3 goals and 1 assist across 2 victories for New Covenant. Hess scored the game-winning goal in both matches, helping the Flames remain undefeated at 5-0 while playing a key role in their creativity and attack.
Jaxin Robinson (Palmyra / So.) – Football: The sophomore made an impact on both sides of the ball during Palmyra’s victory over Mifflin County on Friday. Robinson caught 8 passes for 76 yards and 2 touchdowns, added 11 yards on 3 carries, and contributed 3 tackles and 1 pass breakup defensively.
Sawyer Shanaman (ELCO / So.) – Cross Country: The sophomore led ELCO in Tuesday’s Section 3 dual meet against Northern Lebanon, finishing 3rd overall in 19:57. Shanaman led a strong Raiders pack that claimed 3rd, 4th, and 5th places, helping ELCO battle the Vikings to a narrow 26-29 decision.
Kai Speaks (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Football: The senior delivered several explosive plays for Cedar Crest, catching 2 passes for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns. Speaks added a 95-yard kickoff return for another touchdown, giving him 3 scores in the game.
Sajan Tamang (Annville-Cleona / Jr.) – Boys Soccer: The junior totaled 4 goals and 1 assist across 2 matches while leading Annville-Cleona to the 22nd Annual Antietam Mountaineer Soccer Tournament championship. Tamang scored both A-C goals in the title match against High Point Baptist Academy, including the equalizer with less than 2 minutes remaining in regulation, before the Dutchmen prevailed 4-3 in penalty kicks.
