Softball Results Tracker: April 5-6

Saturday, April 6

Northern Lebanon 10, Manheim Township 4

After moving their record to 1-0 on Friday, the Vikings were back in action on Saturday morning at home against Manheim Township. Last season, the Streaks outlasted Northern Lebanon in a 14-11 affair. This season, the result was much different.

The Vikings scored eight runs in the 2nd inning on their way to the victory. In the game, Addison Kubica went 3-4 with a double and 3 RBI. Abby Palkovic went 1-3 with a double, a walk, 2 RBI, and scored once. Carley Umbrell had a similar line, going 1-3 with 2 RBI. Olivia Shutter also knocked in a run.

Lynsie Mauser pitched a complete game, racking up 12 Ks while allowing six hits and three earned runs.

Northern Lebanon (2-0) will be back in action on Monday when they host Columbia.

 



 

Friday, April 5

Annville-Cleona 24, Columbia 0 [F/3]

With the rain finally out of the way, Annville-Cleona traveled to Columbia to resume their season. After scoring two runs in the 1st inning, the gates opened up in the 2nd as the Dutchmen scored thirteen. They would add nine more in the 3rd inning to end the game under the mercy rule.

Annville’s middle infielders were the stars of the show offensively. Second baseman Temperance Brubaker was a force to be reckoned with, going 4-4 with a 3B, HR, 6 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Shortstop Danika Setlock matched her, going 4-4 with three doubles, 5 RBI, and 4 runs scored. Left fielder Kaci Potter also made her mark, adding two triples for 2 RBI.

Two Annville pitchers combined to no-hit the Tide. Meda Pulaski pitched 2.0 innings, collecting 5 Ks. Zoe Miller finished the game by throwing in the 3rd inning.

Annville-Cleona (2-1) will play on Tuesday at Pequea Valley.

 

ELCO 13, Cocalico 5

The Raiders traveled to Cocalico on Friday, having not played a game since moving their record to 3-0 with last Thursday’s win over Lebanon. After the two teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the 1st inning, ELCO used a strong 2nd inning to take a 6-1 lead. They again put up a crooked number in the 6th inning when they crossed six runners to take a 13-5 lead.

Gabby Smith led ELCO’s effort, going 3-5 with 2B, 3B, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Smith was also on the mound for all seven innings, giving up three hits while collecting 13 Ks.

Abby Hassler, Kenzie Deeks, and Chloe Shirk each had two hits in the game.

ELCO (4-0) is set to host Garden Spot on Monday.

 

Elizabethtown 22, Lebanon 0 [F/4]

Lebanon hosted E-Town on Friday. After blanking the visitors in the 1st inning and then holding them to a single run in the 2nd, the Bears began to get their offense rolling. E-Town scored 5 runs in the 3rd before exploding for 16 runs in the 4th to trigger the mercy rule.

Seira Wolfe had Lebanon’s lone hit, which came in the form of a double.

Lebanon (0-4) is set to host Ephrata on Monday.

Northern Lebanon 10, Lancaster Catholic 1

Northern Lebanon finally saw their first action beginning on the road with a key matchup against Lancaster Catholic. After the Crusaders took a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning, the Vikings would tie it up in the 3rd. They would then add nine more runs over the course of the next three innings to bring home the 10-1 victory.

Abby Palkovic, who missed last season with a major injury, was back in the lineup. The senior had a huge day, going 4-4 with a home run and two doubles on her way to driving in three runs. Addison Hollenbach had two hits and three RBI while also leading the Vikings on the mound. She had 14 Ks in the game. Another offensive outburst came from Addison Kubica, who went 2-3 with three RBI.

Northern Lebanon (1-0) will travel to play Manheim Township on Saturday.
