ELCO Field Hockey is currently 16-1-1 and just last night finished their regular season as the Lancaster Lebanon League Section 3 Champions.  Just last week, the Raiders went 3-0.  One of the key players that has helped the team is junior Kailen Hibshman.  In the October 4th game against Octorara, Hibshman scored a hat trick and hit the 100 career point milestone.  For her efforts, she was selected by our readers as the LebCo Female Athlete of the Week.

For the season, Hibshman has accounted for 56 points, scoring 20 goals and assisting on 16 on her teammate’s goals.  Her offensive firepower has made ELCO tough to defend, as they are a high scoring, quick strike offense that set a program record by scoring 11 goals in a game against Lebanon that was their 500th all-time victory.

When asked about Hibshman, Coach Kelsey Thorley told LebCoSports.com, “Kailen plays center midfield for us and perfectly represents the importance of that position in relation to being skilled and have a high hockey IQ.  She is a strong distributor that is constantly commanding the play around her.  She has a strong work ethic and passion for the sport and works tirelessly to improve herself and her teammates.  She is a calming presence in the middle and comes up big for us when we need it most.  She is respected among her teammates and in the section and is always looking how to capitalize on her opportunities.”

While Hibshman is still a junior, she already knows that she would like to play Field Hockey at the collegiate level.  For now, she has her sights set on helping her team to make a deep postseason run. They currently are ranked #3 in the 1A District 3 Power Rankings, but before they move onto Districts, they will first compete in the Lancaster Lebanon League Tournament.  Hibshman will look to add to her career point total when she walks onto the field with her teammates to battle Warwick on Saturday afternoon.

Good luck, Kailen!  Go Raiders!
