LebCo Athlete of the Week Voting: April 20 – 26

 

 

Presented in coordination with Froggy Valley 100.1/WiLBuR 99.7 & Lebanon Federal Credit Union.

 


 

Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action.  While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.

Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.

While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.

While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.

Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.

Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor. 

The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees

Temperance Brubaker (Annville-Cleona / Jr.) – Softball: The junior contributed both at the plate and in the circle during a strong all-around week for the Dutchmen. Brubaker finished with 2 singles, 1 double, 3 RBI, and 4 runs scored offensively, while also recording 7 strikeouts.

Addi Davis (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Lacrosse: The junior defender continued to be a steady presence all over the field, turning in another strong week on the defensive end. Davis face-guarded Palmyra standout Ava Lantz and helped limit her impact, while also finishing the week with 2 goals, 4 assists, 4 forced turnovers, 10 ground balls, and 1 interception.

Savannah Epler (Palmyra / So.) – Lacrosse: The sophomore goalie reached a major milestone in net for Palmyra, surpassing the 200-save mark early in her high school career. Epler finished with 8 saves against Lower Dauphin and 7 more against Trinity, continuing to give the Cougars steady play in goal during a strong stretch of the season.

Bre Etherson (ELCO / Sr.) – Track & Field: The senior hurdler came through with a championship performance at the Lebanon County Track & Field Championships, winning the 100m hurdles in 16.57. Etherson also ran the opening leg on ELCO’s 3rd-place 4x100m relay, adding another strong contribution to the Raiders’ day.

Mykenah Johnson (Northern Lebanon / So.) – Softball: Over Northern Lebanon’s three-game stretch against Donegal, Garden Spot, and Central York, the sophomore was a major contributor both at the plate and behind it. Johnson went 4-for-8 with 4 RBI, 4 runs scored, a walk, a double, a home run, and a stolen base, while also catching a dominant three-game pitching stretch in which the Vikings allowed no earned runs and struck out 31.

Rayven Soliday (Lebanon / Jr.) – Softball: The junior center fielder delivered one of Lebanon’s biggest swings of the week, going 2-for-4 overall and driving a 3-run double against Ephrata. Soliday’s production gave the Cedars a key offensive highlight during the week.

Male Nominees

Braden Gettle (ELCO / Sr.) – Baseball: The senior helped ELCO celebrate Senior Day with a 5-2 win over Conestoga Valley, earning the victory on the mound while also contributing offensively with a hit and 2 walks. Gettle worked 5 innings, allowing 5 hits and 2 unearned runs while striking out 2 and walking 2, continuing to provide the Raiders steady leadership as a captain, pitcher, and infielder.

Augustus Giurintano (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Tennis: The senior had a huge week across singles and doubles play. Giurintano went 4-1 in singles, including a win over West York that helped Annville-Cleona clinch a team District appearance, then added a 3rd-place finish in L-L League Flight 1 singles, reached the doubles championship match, and became the 3rd boys player in school history to reach 50 career wins.

Dexter Hardy (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Lacrosse: In 3 games during the week, the junior defenseman racked up 10 caused turnovers, including his record-breaking 43rd caused turnover of the season. Hardy also added 1 goal and 4 ground balls, continuing a season in which he has already set new program marks for both caused turnovers in a season and caused turnovers in a game.

Brady Ryan (Northern Lebanon / Jr.) – Track & Field: The junior put together a strong week for the Vikings, starting with wins in the 100m and 200m against Pequea Valley. He then placed 2nd in the 400m at the Lebanon County Track & Field Championships in 51.76 and also ran on Northern Lebanon’s 5th-place 4x100m and 4x400m relays, showing his value across multiple events.

Dominic Wentling (Annville-Cleona / So.) – Track & Field: The sophomore thrower delivered one of the top field-event performances of the week, winning both the discus and shot put at the Lebanon County Track & Field Championships. Wentling also made a major jump in the shot put, increasing his personal record by 7 feet with a throw of 55’5”.

Aidan Willard (Palmyra / Sr.) – Baseball: The senior put together a monster week at the plate for Palmyra, going 6-for-7 with an .887 batting average, a 3.175 OPS, and a 2.286 slugging percentage. Willard added 2 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 6 RBI, 5 runs scored, and 3 stolen bases, showing off a complete offensive skill set during a huge week for the Cougars.
