Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees
Avery Lechleitner (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Girls Lacrosse: Across three Cedar Crest wins over Eastern York, Cocalico, and Elizabethtown, the junior stuffed the stat sheet with 13 goals, 2 assists, and 23 draw controls. Lechleitner’s all-around play helped fuel an unbeaten week for the Falcons and played a major role in controlling possession.
Layla Mailloux (Lebanon / So.) – Softball: Doing damage in multiple ways, the sophomore helped Lebanon with both her bat and arm in a three-game stretch last week. Mailloux went 3-6 with 3 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 walk, and 1 stolen base, while also striking out 7 batters and contributing 5 putouts and 3 assists defensively.
Maddie Nelson (ELCO / So.) – Track & Field: Having already set a new ELCO record in the 100m by clocking a 12.3, the sophomore showed this week that there is more in the tank within her versatile arsenal. Going against strong competition at Friday night’s the Bob Friday Warrior Invitational, Nelson added hardware by placing 3rd in the 100m and 2nd in the 400m. It was in the quarter-mile race where she set another Raider record by running a 59.89.
Stephanie Palkovic (Northern Lebanon / So.) – Softball: The sophomore turned in a big week at the plate and in the circle for the Vikings. Palkovic opened with a dominant win over Garden Spot, allowing just 2 hits and no runs while striking out 13 in 5.0 innings. At the plate, she also homered in that game before adding 3 RBI against Manheim Central and a 2-hit , 1 RBI game against Lampeter-Strasburg.
Maddy Waldron (Palmyra / Jr.) – Track & Field: A four-medal performance at the Pan-Ram Invitational highlighted a standout week for the junior. Waldron won the 200m in 25.13, placed 4th in the 100m in 12.42, and helped Palmyra medal in both the 4x400m relay and 4x100m relay. She also contributed by sweeping all over her events to lead Palmyra in a dual meet win over Hershey that was decided by tiebreaker.
Male Nominees
Eddie Ferrer (Lebanon / Sr.) – Track & Field: At Saturday’s Jeff Bradley Invitational, the senior double-medaled by tying for 8th in the high jump at 5’10” and placing 5th in the triple jump at 41’7″. Earlier in the week, Ferrer also swept those same events in Lebanon’s dual meet against Hempfield, giving him a strong all-around week in both invitational and dual meet competition.
Travis Hostetter (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Tennis: It was a milestone week for the senior, who went 2-1 in singles and 2-1 in doubles during dual-match play. Hostetter also captured the Lebanon County No. 1 singles title, earned his 50th career win in the semifinals, and helped the Dutchmen secure their first-ever county team championship.
Avery Kurtz (ELCO / Sr.) – Track & Field: In a close boys meet win over Lancaster Catholic, the senior delivered in the throws with a 152’9″ discus and a 43’6″ shot put. Kurtz won both events, and his discus mark currently ranks among the top 20 in Pennsylvania, giving ELCO a huge boost in a tightly contested meet.
Peyton Ream (Northern Lebanon / Jr.) – Boys Volleyball: In Northern Lebanon’s exciting four-set win over Lebanon, the junior led the Vikings with 22 kills and 11 digs. Ream’s strong two-way effort helped Northern Lebanon come through in one of its biggest matches of the week.
Grant Reesor (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Boys Lacrosse: Few players had a bigger week than the junior attacker, who exploded for 25 points on 13 goals and 12 assists over 3 games. Reesor, already the LL leader in goals through 7 games with 34, also added 18 ground balls and 8 caused turnovers while continuing a season that has already seen him break school records.
Lucas Schreier (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Baseball: The junior came through with a productive two-game stretch in Cedar Crest wins over Hempfield and Ephrata, going 3-6 with 5 RBI, a double, 2 runs scored, and 2 home runs. Schreier’s biggest statement came against Ephrata, when he launched 2 home runs to help power the Falcons to another key early-season victory.
Lukas Verdelli (Palmyra / Sr.) – Boys Lacrosse: In a three-win week over Lancaster Country Day, Bishop McDevitt, and Hershey, the senior totaled 5 goals and 2 assists for the Cougars. Verdelli’s biggest moment came against Hershey, where he scored his 100th career goal to reach a major milestone during Palmyra’s undefeated week.
