Falcon Youth Football

Red Rose Midget Football League Age group information

v Penn Manor Comets

B Team (2-6) Penn Manor 14, Cedar Crest 6

C Team (7-1) Cedar Crest 27, Penn Manor 7

D Team (3-5) Cedar Crest 30, Penn Manor 26

The Falcon “B” Team fell 14–6 to the Comets of Penn Manor. Cedar Crest started slow, allowing the Comets to jump to a 14–0 lead by the end of the first quarter. After that, the Falcon defense locked in, holding the Comets scoreless for the final three quarters. The defense, led by Kamar Johnson, kept the Comet rushing attack in check.

In the second quarter, the Falcons found the end zone when QB Torrence Hubbard took the snap and rushed to the right for a 4-yard touchdown. The drive was set up by big completions from Hubbard to Cooper Stellar.

At the start of the third quarter, the Falcons relied on their rushing attack. Led by Josiah Malandra and Grayson Painter, Cedar Crest looked poised to march for a potential tying score, but a costly holding penalty stalled the drive, resulting in a turnover on downs.

Later in the third quarter, Hubbard intercepted a pass and returned it to the red zone, but the Falcons were unable to capitalize. The Comets then ground down the clock in the fourth quarter, and although Cedar Crest got the ball back on their own 20-yard line, they could only manage their earlier touchdown.

The Falcon “C” Team  returned to the win column Sunday with a 27–7 victory over Penn Manor, improving their record to 7–1 on the season.

After a slow start, the Falcon offense erupted thanks to the three-headed rushing attack of Boston Speece, Cameron Eggert, and Chase Reesman, all having big days on the ground. Cash Shaffer added to the scoring with an impressive one-handed catch for a two-point conversion.

The defense was lights out, holding Penn Manor to minimal yardage and a single score. Trey Gbadyu recorded several key tackles, while Zach Tropp and Mason Kleinfelter each had fumble recoveries, one of which was forced by Eggert.

For the Falcon “D” Team, the game started as an offense-heavy contest, with both teams scoring multiple times, sending the score to 26-24 at halftime in favor of the Comets. Scoring four touchdowns for the Falcons was Nico Aungst, with strong support from Nyle Kaley, Elias Tvera, and Carson Bugg.

Defensively, the Falcons were led by Owen Miller and Leo Avila, with key contributions from Kaeden Flickinger, Jay Hoyer, and Matthew Hornick. The Falcons shut out the Comets in the second half to secure the 30–26 victory.

Nico Aungst added his fifth touchdown late in the game to seal the win. The defense held the Comets scoreless three times in the red zone, including a spectacular goal-line stop by Nyle Kaley and Jay Hoyer, with a forced fumble recovered by Matthew Hornick to secure the victory.

Up Next: This Sunday, Cedar Crest will finish the regular season with a trip to Donegal.

The Myerstown Mites finished  their regular season with a hard-fought defensive battle against the Conrad Weiser Scouts, ending in a 0–0 tie at Rager Field. It was a game defined by grit, physicality, and two defenses that refused to bend.

The opening quarter set the tone as the Panthers’ defense forced a quick three-and-out before the offense went to work. Owen Hall, Kaiden Vincent, and Chase Clubb combined for a steady drive that included a clutch 12-yard fourth-down completion from quarterback Bennett Staudt to Hall. Despite the effort, the drive stalled, but the defense picked up right where the offense left off. Hall, Oliver Moore, Luka Kirelawich, and Paxton Shepler all delivered key tackles to force a turnover on downs.

The defensive intensity continued throughout the second half. Quinn Campion made critical stops to keep the Scouts contained, while Kirelawich, Staudt, Deaken Pyszka, and Logan Witmer combined to pressure the backfield and clog running lanes. In the closing minutes, Jackson Liskey brought relentless edge pressure, and Logan Weaver dominated up front, helping seal the shutout as the final horn sounded.

Though the scoreboard stayed quiet, the effort spoke volumes. The Panthers’ defense was relentless from start to finish, preserving the tie and sending Myerstown into the postseason with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove. The Mites finish the regular season 5–1–1 and will take on the Kutztown Cougars next Sunday in the opening round of the BAYFL Playoffs.

The Panthers Mighty Mites closed out their season on Saturday with a hard-fought 8–0 loss to the Conrad Weiser Scouts. In a game defined by grit, defense, and determination, the Panthers left it all on the field to finish their season with a 2–4–1 record.

The first half was a defensive showdown, with both teams trading stops and battling for field position. Myerstown’s defense held firm, shutting down multiple Weiser drives and keeping the game scoreless heading into halftime. Linebackers and linemen alike swarmed to the ball, making the Scouts earn every yard.

In the second half, Conrad Weiser managed to break through for a touchdown and added the two-point conversion to take an 8–0 lead. Refusing to back down, the Panthers answered with a determined late-game drive, pushing deep into the red zone. Behind strong blocking and powerful runs, Myerstown drove the ball inside the 5-yard line but came up just short as time expired.

While the result didn’t go their way, the Mighty Mites showed tremendous effort and heart from start to finish. This young team made huge strides throughout the season, growing stronger each week and setting the foundation for a bright future in Panthers football.

Up Next: The Mites will take part in the BAFYL Playoffs, playing Kutztown on Sunday in the opening round.
