Saturday, January 4

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Central Dauphin 54, Lebanon 50 – Trailing by 8 going into the 4th, the Cedars cut the deficit in half, but ended up with the loss will visiting CD on Saturday afternoon. Leading Lebanon was Kailah Correa with 19 points. Olive Brandt tallied 11, most of of which were scored on her three three pointers in the 2nd half. Lili Harrison scored 9. Central Dauphin’s Olivia Green scored 19. Lebanon (7-3) will resume their league schedule when they host Hempfield on Wednesday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lower Dauphin 41, Lebanon 38 – In the early game of the Rhoades Classic at LVC, the Cedars ran into foul trouble early, but continued to push the Falcons for the entirety of the game despite coming out on the losing end. For the Cedars, Derek Franco led the way with 9 points and Manny Martinez scored 8. Even with the low score, eight Lebanon players were able to register points. Lebanon (4-8) will travel to Hempfield on Wednesday.

Susquehannock 49, Northern Lebanon 44 – The Vikings led most of the way, but the momentum swung to the home team when they unleashed a barrage of three pointers (6) in the 4th quarter. In the loss, Andrew Via led NL with 13 points. Joining Via in double digits were Brady Krall (12) & Riley Messinger (10). Northern Lebanon (3-9) is next faced with a tough road game Wednesday at Lancaster Mennonite.

Palmyra 54, Penn Manor 39 – In the last game of the Rhoades Classic host by LVC, the Cougars defeated the Comets to complete a sweep of the Mid Penn Keystone over Lancaster Lebanon League opponents (Hershey over Conestoga Valley; Lower Dauphin over Lebanon). In the game, Palmyra was in control most of the way after building a 15-5 lead in the 1st quarter. The game featured a balanced scoring attack, as three Cougars finished in double figures: Braydon Bown (12), Alex Dorta (11), & Aiden Willard (10). Palmyra (5-6) will look to move back to .500 when they host Red Land on Monday.

 

 

Friday, January 3

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lebanon 61, Donegal 41 – Kailah Correa led the Cedars with 19. Lili Harrison added 18 points to the winning effort, while Olive Brandt knocked down two treys on her way to 15 points. Lebanon (8-2) will travel to Central Dauphin on Saturday afternoon.

ELCO 57, Pottsville 44 – On Youth Night in Myerstown, Maddie Stout scored 19 points, while Reece Woelfling drilled three three points on her way to a 13 points night, as the two led the Lady Raiders to victory. Kenzie Eckhart added 9 points. ELCO (8-3) will host Northern Lebanon on Monday night.

New Covenant 51, York Christian 31 – Trailing at halftime, the Flames used a strong 2nd half to break away from visiting York Christian. Miracle Hershey scored 12 of her team-high 20 points in the 4th quarter. Qynne Demler put forth a performance that included a trio of three pointers, finishing the evening with 15 points. New Covenant (7-1) will travel to play Mount Cavalry on Tuesday.

Palmyra 47, Mifflin County 41

 

BOYS BASKETBALL

Donegal 72, Lebanon 49 – The Cedars suffered a road loss as Donegal used a strong 2nd half effort to break away. For Lebanon, freshman Derek Franco led with 13 points & sophomore Manny Martinez had 11 points, including three treys. Lebanon (4-7) will play Lower Dauphin on Saturday as part of the Rhoades Classic at LVC.

Conestoga Valley 54, Cedar Crest 51 – The Falcons dropped a closely fought battle to the visiting Buckskins. In the game, Danny Speaks led Crest with 12 points (5-5 FT). Joining Speaks in double digits was Dylan Groff who hit two three pointers on his way to 10 points. CV benefitted from 21 points scored by DeMere Salisbery. Cedar Crest (7-2) will look to move past this loss with a road game at Manheim Township on Wednesday.

New Covenant 44, York Christian 36 – Alex Hart led the Flames with 18 points, including 11 points (3 – 3PTs) in the team’s strong 3rd quarter that they used to break away from visiting York Christian. Talan Vanderploog & Grayden Summers each scored 9 points. Next up, New Covenant (5-5) will travel to Mount Cavalry on Tuesday.

Palmyra 57, Mifflin County 43 – The Cougars went on the road and picked up the win over the Huskies. Alex Dorta scored 16 points (3 – 3PT, 5-5 FT) to lead the effort, while Aidan Willard scored 13. Palmyra (4-6) will play on Saturday at LVC, taking on Penn Manor as part of the Rhoades Classic.

Pottsville 67, ELCO 42 – At historic Martz Hall, the Raiders fell behind early and could not close the gap. Josiah Hayes led ELCO with 13 points, while Micah Gray hit three treys (two in the 1st quarter) on his way to 9 points. Kaden Shultz-Tillison hit two threes on his way to 8 points. ELCO (4-6) will travel to Octorara on Monday.

Mechanicsburg 44, Palmyra 29 – Jason  Foutz, Tyler Detwiler, & Alex Csongradi each picked up contested wins for the Cougars.

 

 

Monday, December 30

BOYS BASKETBALL

Millersburg 58, New Covenant 52 – After leading most of the way, a rough 4th quarter tipped the scales in favor of the visitors to snap New Covenant’s four-game win streak. For the Flames, Alex Hart led with 13 points, including three three pointers, while Grant Canakis scored 12. New Covenant (5-5) will look to start a new win streak when they host York Christian on Friday night.
