Mid-Penn Cross Country Championship: Palmyra Results

Update October 18, 2022

On Saturday, the Palmyra Cougars competed at the Mid-Penn Cross Country Championships held at Big Spring High School.  As has been the case in recent years, this race decided the Mid-Penn teams and individual runners that will be moving on to compete at the District 3 Cross Country Championships, which will be held at this same site on Saturday, October 29th.

From the Mid-Penn, the District accepts the top 8 girls teams from AAA, along with the first 28 individual runners who are not affiliated with one of the qualifying teams.  On the boys side, this numbers is 7 AAA teams and 25 individual runners.

Girls Results

The girls race was won by Cami Kiser of Chambersburg who completed the 5,000 meter course in a time of 18:10, twenty seconds ahead of second place.  Leading the way for Palmyra were sophomores Ellie Schaffer (20:38, 27th) and Avery Rohrer (21:04, 33rd). It is worth mentioning that due to an injury the Cougars were without Abby Berarducci, a junior who had been the team’s #2 runner most of the season.  Even without one of their main runners, a resilient Palmyra squad ran hard and was able to qualify three members for the District 3 Championship.  Joining Schaffer and Rohrer in earning the chance to run this course again on October 29th is freshman Avery Rohrer (23:10, 90th).  Since the time that this article was initially published, it was discovered that Abby Keiner and Cecilia Cole also qualified for Districts.  Though, they did not qualify as a team, having five will allow Palmyra to score as a team when they run at the District 3 Championships.
