Former Cedar Crest Standout To Play In Conference Championship

This season, Cedar Crest alum Ileri Ayo-Faleye joined the University of Vermont’s men’s basketball team after transferring from Rhode Island.  If you’ve been following our coverage in recent weeks, you already know that Ayo-Faleye has been a key member of the rotation that the Catamounts have employed this season.  Last night was not any different as Vermont defeated Binghamton, 79-57 in the America East Conference Semifinals.  In ten minutes of action, Ayo-Faleye connected on both shots he attempted for 4 points.  He added a rebound, an assist, and two steals.  Vermont will play UMass-Lowell in the America East Conference Championship on Saturday.  The game will be televised on ESPN2 beginning at 11 am.  If Vermont wins, the former Falcon will be with his teammates playing in the NCAA D1 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Howard Heads to NYC for Nike Nationals

The Nike Indoor Track and Field Nationals will be held this weekend at the legendary NYC venue known as The Armory.  Competing at the meet will be Cedar Crest freshman Kaddel Howard,  the indoor state champion in the 400m and silver medalist in the 200m.  If all goes as well as it could, Howard will be racing on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Prelims for the 400m are Friday at 10:29 am, with the finals on Saturday at 5:01 pm.  Prelims for the 200m are Saturday at 1:34 pm, with the finals on Sunday at 1:47 pm. You can watch Howard compete live on the Nike Indoor Nationals website. She is one of only two freshmen in each event.  To give you a clue as to the prestigious nature of this meet, Olympic gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin is the record holder in the 400m. To catch up on Kaddel Howard, check out this recent article that was written by a fellow Cedar Crest student.
