Annville-Cleona Dutchmen
Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3
Dual Match Record: 3-5 overall; 3-2 in Section 3 (3rd place)
Update: Coming into the season, Coach Miller knew that depth would be an issue for his young Dutchmen crew. In individual dual meets, they are currently 3-1 and things seem to be going better than expected on that front. Annville-Cleona is led by junior Cael Harter (133#) 12-3, freshman Oliver Funck (107#) 12-3, and sophomore Clayton Kreider (152#) 11-4. If they can continue this development, they will win several more dual matches this year and also have laid a strong foundation for future seasons.
Cedar Crest Falcons
Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1
Dual Match Record: 0-5 overall, 0-5 in Section 1 (8th place)
Update: Coming into the season, Coach Cam Eisenhauer knew that the team would take its lumps as a foundation is laid for future years. Currently, the Falcons are 0-5 in Section 1 action, but are showing some promise even in the team losses. Due to the fact that wrestling is an individual sport, there are some records worth mentioning: junior Lucas Garrett (139#) is 11-6; senior Jason Brooks (133#) is 7-5; freshman Landyn Kline (189#) is 6-8. With the Falcons’ first dual invitational coming up this weekend at the Juniata Duals, there is hope that they will be able to pick up their first team win.
ELCO Raiders
Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3
Dual Match Record: 13-0 overall, 4-0 in Section 3 (T-1st place)
Update: On the season, the Raiders are currently 13-0 in dual meets after defeating Annville-Cleona their Section 3 showdown last week. In fact, ELCO is now 3-0 in Section matches, which puts them on pace for a highly anticipated match with Northern Lebanon (2-0) on January 25th. The Raiders last took home a Section Championship in 2009, but Coach Ben Moser is hoping to change that. They have momentum on their side and several wrestlers who are stepping up to contribute to the total team effort.
Lebanon Cedars
Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 2
Dual Match Record: 1-8 overall, 0-5 in Section 2 (7th place)
Update: Experience and depth have hurt the Cedars overall when it comes to team scoring, but this is a hard working unit that puts it all on the line each match. This paid off in their final match of the Cedar Duals when they were able to defeat Lancaster Catholic. When it comes to top tier talent, Lebanon is enjoying another tremendous season by senior Griffin Gonzalez. The Lehigh University commit is currently 21-2 and most recently went 5-1 for a 5th place finish at the prestigious Escape the Rock Tournament. Junior Eddiean Neptali (8-8) and freshman Jovani Rivera Gonzalez (8-7) have added some excitement to Lebanon’s season, as Coach Vaughn Black continues to develop his young wrestlers (only two rostered seniors).
Northern Lebanon Vikings
Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3
Dual Match Record: 9-1 overall, 4-0 in Section 3 (T-1st place)
Update: Currently the Vikings as a team are 9-1, with their only loss coming at the hands of a very strong Pottsville team. At the Mats at the Mecca event where the loss occurred, Northern Lebanon also scored a major 34-33 win over Perkiomen Valley. Undefeated in Section 3, the potential matchup with county rival ELCO on January 25th could be one of high interest. Northern Lebanon has lofty goals for the season, as they hope they can not only win the Section 3 crown, but then bring home a league title and quite possibly a team state championship. Sophomore sensation 107# Aaron Seidel will be a key piece of these ambitions, as he is currently undefeated (23-0) and is hoping to repeat as the PIAA State Champ. He has already won at two prestigious events this season, the King of the Mountain Tournament and the Bethlehem Holiday Tournament. Beyond Seidel, some of the key performers this year have been: freshman Sam Wolford (114#) 24-7; senior Clayon Erb (215#) 21-8; senior Owen Lehman (127#) 17-7; senior Conor Leonard (160#) 17-8; sophomore Hayden Adams (285#) 17-7.
Palmyra Cougars
Mid-Penn Conference – Keystone Division
Dual Match Record: 9-10 overall, 3-1 in Keystone (1st place)
Update: Palmyra scored what Coach Jon Regets hopes will be a signature win when they defeated Red Land last week to overtake 1st place in the Keystone Division. This victory came just days after having lost to Red Land at the Grizzly Duals. There is much to be excited about as the Palm City Cougars are getting healthier and beginning to wrestle with confidence. Some of the key members leading the team this season have been: senior Nathaniel Foltz (133#) 19-4; junior Mason Bucks (152#) 17-5; freshman Tyler Detwiler (107#) 19-2; junior Josh Smith (114#) 20-3; Jayson Albright (285#) 12-4. If this team can remain consistent, they will be a problem for opposing teams the rest of the way.
