Touchdowns, Breakthrough Wins and Big Defensive Performances

Lebanon County graduates find the end zone, help their teams earn victories, and contribute on both sides of the football during another busy college weekend.

With Lebanon County’s high school football regular season winding down and postseason anticipation building, former local players are continuing to create memorable moments of their own at the collegiate level.

Saturday’s action brought plenty to celebrate, including touchdown catches by Cedar Crest and ELCO graduates, a long-awaited first victory for Lebanon Valley College, and a strong defensive performance by a Palmyra alum competing in sprint football.

From NCAA Division I programs to Division III and collegiate sprint football, familiar names continue to represent Lebanon County well beyond Friday nights.

Here’s the latest LebCo Football Alumni Check-In following the games that took place this past week.

Heisey and Chernich Help Lebanon Valley Break Through Against Widener

After six consecutive losses to open the season, Lebanon Valley College delivered a decisive victory Saturday afternoon, defeating Widener University 45-2 at Arnold Field. Two former Cedar Crest Falcons, Ethan Heisey and Owen Chernich, played important roles on opposite sides of the football.

Heisey helped fuel the offensive outburst, catching a 35-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Owen Strouse in the third quarter. The score extended Lebanon Valley’s advantage to 42-0 with 7:48 remaining in the period.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound senior finished with three receptions for a team-high 53 yards, continuing an impressive stretch that has seen him emerge as one of Lebanon Valley’s primary receiving threats.

Heisey previously caught nine passes for 117 yards against Stevenson on October 10 before adding five catches for 63 yards against King’s on October 17.

Combined with Saturday’s production, the Dutchmen captain has recorded 17 receptions for 233 yards across his last three games.

While Heisey contributed offensively, Chernich helped Lebanon Valley deliver one of its most dominant defensive performances of the season.

The junior defensive back recorded five tackles and broke up two passes as the Dutchmen limited Widener to just 11 passing yards. The Pride completed only four of their 18 attempts through the air.

Lebanon Valley’s defense also forced three turnovers and prevented Widener from scoring an offensive touchdown. The visitors’ only points came on a fourth-quarter safety.

For Chernich, the performance followed a six-tackle outing against King’s that also included a tackle for loss and a pass breakup.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound former Falcon has become a regular presence in the Dutchmen secondary, contributing as both a tackler and pass defender.

Lebanon Valley’s offense accumulated 410 total yards, including 272 rushing yards. Running back Jayden Stanfield delivered a historic performance with four rushing touchdowns and a receiving score, tying the program’s single-game record with five total touchdowns.

The victory improved Lebanon Valley to 1-6 overall and 1-5 in MAC competition, giving the Dutchmen a much-needed breakthrough with three games remaining.

Williams Scores on 39-Yard Reception as Dickinson Rolls

Former ELCO running back Jake Williams provided another offensive highlight Saturday as Dickinson College cruised to a 52-0 victory over McDaniel.

Williams hauled in a 39-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Ty Bussard with 7:06 remaining in the third quarter, extending Dickinson’s advantage to 45-0.

The scoring play came during a remarkable third period in which the Red Devils erupted for 35 points, putting the game well out of reach.

Dickinson improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in Centennial Conference competition with the victory.

For Williams, the touchdown was another encouraging moment in his sophomore campaign after transferring to Dickinson from Division II Bloomsburg University.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound former Raider has contributed as both a runner and receiver this fall. Two weeks earlier, he scored on a one-yard touchdown run during Dickinson’s 41-19 victory over Gettysburg.

His latest touchdown showcased another dimension of his game, turning a pass reception into one of the Red Devils’ longest scoring plays of the afternoon.

Dickinson finished with 52 points while holding McDaniel scoreless, giving Williams and his teammates momentum heading into the final stretch of conference competition.

Schelhorn Helps Mansfield Win Defensive Battle at Penn

Palmyra graduate Jake Schelhorn made a significant defensive contribution Saturday as Mansfield University defeated the University of Pennsylvania 6-3 in collegiate sprint football competition.

Schelhorn recorded six tackles, including one solo stop and five assisted tackles. He also contributed half a tackle for loss during the low-scoring contest at Franklin Field.

The defensive struggle featured only nine combined points, with Mansfield trailing 3-0 at halftime before taking the lead on a third-quarter touchdown run by Joseph Frye.

Penn threatened to regain the advantage late in the fourth quarter, moving into the red zone before a fake field goal attempt failed with just over a minute remaining.

Mansfield maintained possession and ran out the clock to preserve the three-point victory.

Sprint football features many of the same elements as traditional college football, with a player weight limit creating a distinct competitive format.

Schelhorn is one of several Lebanon County graduates who have continued their football careers through Mansfield’s sprint program, along with ELCO alumni Steven Rosado and Austin Yesko.

His six-tackle outing provides another example of local athletes finding meaningful opportunities across different levels of college competition.

Infante and Kline Contribute as Misericordia’s Winning Streak Ends

After winning five consecutive games, Misericordia University suffered a 48-21 setback at Delaware Valley on Saturday, falling to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in MAC competition.

The Cougars entered halftime trailing just 21-14, but Delaware Valley pulled away in the third quarter with two defensive touchdowns, including a fumble return and an interception return.

Despite the loss, Lebanon High graduate Derek Infante turned in a productive afternoon for Misericordia’s passing attack. The junior wide receiver caught four passes for 50 yards, including a 28-yard reception, finishing as the Cougars’ third-leading receiver.

The performance brought Infante’s season totals to 10 receptions for 144 yards, an average of 14.4 yards per catch.

Cedar Crest graduate Landyn Kline also contributed defensively, recording one solo tackle. The freshman linebacker now has seven tackles on the season, including three solo stops.

Another Lebanon High graduate, Jahkeim Medlock, is a sophomore defensive back on Misericordia’s roster, although no individual statistics were recorded for him in Saturday’s contest.

Misericordia will look to rebound October 31 when it hosts Lebanon Valley College in a matchup featuring numerous graduates of Lebanon County high schools.

Waranavage Contributes on Key Fourth-Down Conversion

Cedar Crest graduate Jack Waranavage was involved in one of Muhlenberg College’s biggest offensive plays during Saturday’s 34-7 loss to Carnegie Mellon.

The sophomore wide receiver caught a 13-yard pass on fourth-and-10 during the Mules’ lone touchdown drive of the afternoon.

With Muhlenberg facing a fourth-down situation late in the fourth quarter, quarterback Nicholas Humpf connected with Waranavage to keep the possession alive.

Three plays later, the Mules converted another fourth-down opportunity when Humpf found Cody Arevalo for a 26-yard touchdown.

The score came with 2:55 remaining and prevented Muhlenberg from being shut out.

Waranavage, who stands 6 feet tall, also contributes on special teams for the Mules. His college roster identifies him as a former Cedar Crest football, basketball and track and field athlete who earned multiple all-county recognitions during his high school career.

Muhlenberg fell to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in Centennial Conference play with Saturday’s defeat.

Long Part of Robert Morris Victory

Annville-Cleona graduate Alex Long is continuing his senior campaign at Robert Morris University, where the Colonials returned to the win column Saturday.

Robert Morris defeated Mercyhurst 28-14, improving to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in Northeast Conference play.

The Colonials used a balanced offensive attack and an opportunistic defense to secure the victory, forcing four turnovers while limiting Mercyhurst to 88 rushing yards.

Long, a 5-foot-11, 230-pound linebacker, has continued his collegiate career at the NCAA Division I FCS level after previously representing Annville-Cleona in the Lancaster-Lebanon League.

The former Dutchman entered the week with five tackles, including one tackle for loss, in his previously reported 2026 statistics.

The Robert Morris program will continue conference competition October 31 at Central Connecticut State.

More Local Alumni Continue Their College Seasons

Several additional Lebanon County graduates remain active with college programs competing across Pennsylvania and beyond.

At Albright College, ELCO graduate Alden Stickler continues his senior season. The experienced receiver entered the campaign after collecting 36 receptions for 584 yards in 2025 and has served in a leadership role for the Lions.

Lebanon Valley also features numerous county graduates beyond Heisey and Chernich, including Cedar Crest’s Roman Brummel, Annville-Cleona’s Bryce Keller, ELCO’s Ellis Gensamer, and Northern Lebanon’s Brendan Ryan.

While some of these athletes are still establishing their roles at the collegiate level, their opportunities to compete remain meaningful steps in their football development.

Across the college landscape, Lebanon County graduates continue contributing as starters, reserves, and special-teams players, carrying forward the experience gained during their high school careers.

This weekend’s results provided an especially encouraging collection of accomplishments, including touchdowns by Heisey and Williams, another productive defensive outing by Chernich, Schelhorn’s contributions to a hard-fought Mansfield victory, and Infante’s 50-yard receiving performance.

For Lebanon Valley, Saturday brought the added significance of a long-awaited first victory, while Dickinson and Robert Morris also earned important wins.

Beyond the headlines, local graduates continue to gain experience and contribute to their respective programs in a variety of roles.
