Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
Voting will remain open until Thursday at 10 pm.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Female Nominees
Addie Barger (Palmyra / Jr.) – Field Hockey: The junior played a major role in Palmyra capturing the Cougar Cup on Saturday, totaling 4 goals and 1 assist across 2 victories. Barger recorded a hat trick in a 9-0 semifinal win over Susquehannock before adding 1 assist and scoring the 4th-quarter game-winner in a 4-2 championship victory over Boiling Springs.
Kara Cawley (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Girls Tennis: The junior continued her unbeaten start to the season from the No. 3 singles position for Cedar Crest. Cawley remained undefeated through last week’s action while continuing to provide the Falcons with a reliable point against strong competition.
Qynne Demler (New Covenant / Sr.) – Girls Soccer: The senior fueled the New Covenant attack during a perfect week for the Flames, totaling 5 goals and 2 assists. Demler’s offensive production helped New Covenant collect 3 victories during the week.
Emma Heagy (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Girls Soccer: The senior powered Northern Lebanon’s attack in Monday’s 10-0 victory over CD East, scoring 4 goals and adding 1 assist. Heagy scored twice in the opening 6 minutes and completed her hat trick early in the 2nd half as the Vikings improved to 2-0.
Paige Stoltz (Annville-Cleona / Jr.) – Cross Country: The junior turned in a strong effort at Saturday’s Dutchmen Invitational, placing 20th overall in 20:39.0. Stoltz led Annville-Cleona against a deep field at Union Canal Tunnel Park.
Naomi Weaver (ELCO / Fr.) – Field Hockey: The freshman faced plenty of early-season pressure in goal for ELCO, seeing 24 shots across 3 games. Weaver stopped 20 of those attempts while providing a steady presence in the cage for the Raiders.
Male Nominees
Westin Atkins (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Boys Soccer: The senior delivered a hat trick in Northern Lebanon’s win over Hamburg, scoring 3 goals to help lead the Vikings’ attack. Atkins’ performance pushed his season total to 5 goals.
Eli Fittery (Annville-Cleona / So.) – Boys Soccer: The sophomore enjoyed a breakout week for Annville-Cleona, totaling 3 goals and 2 assists across 2 games. Fittery’s production helped provide an offensive spark for the Dutchmen during the week.
Samuel Hershey (Lebanon / Sr.) – Cross Country: The senior led Lebanon at Saturday’s Dutchmen Invitational, finishing 13th overall in a time of 16:24.7. Hershey was the 2nd-fastest Lebanon County runner in the boys race against a large field at Union Canal Tunnel Park.
Jevan Marquette (ELCO / Jr.) – Boys Soccer: The junior has helped lead the way offensively during ELCO’s 3-0 start to the season. Marquette totaled 3 goals and 1 assist through the Raiders’ first 3 victories.
Gavin Meson (New Covenant / Sr.) – Boys Soccer: The senior had a memorable week for New Covenant, scoring 6 goals with a hat trick in each of the Flames’ 2 victories. Mesón also made program history by becoming New Covenant’s all-time goals leader while continuing to contribute as a creator and playmaker in the midfield and attack.
Jemar Pauleus (Cedar Crest / Jr.) – Boys Soccer: The junior was at the center of Cedar Crest’s attack during a productive 2-game stretch on Tuesday and Wednesday. Pauleus totaled 3 goals and 3 assists, registering 2 goals and 3 assists in Tuesday’s 8-1 victory over Reading before scoring again in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Lower Dauphin.
Roman Russek (Palmyra / Sr.) – Football: The senior accounted for 5 touchdowns during Palmyra’s 40-27 comeback victory over Red Land on Friday. Russek completed 21 of 26 passes for 191 yards and 2 touchdowns while adding 112 yards and 3 scores on 15 carries, finishing with 303 yards of total offense.
