Cedars Storm Back to Top Northern Lebanon in Five Sets

Tuesday night’s meeting between Lebanon and Northern Lebanon delivered another competitive clash between Lebanon County foes, as the Cedars defended their home floor with a five-set victory at Lebanon Junior High. After Northern Lebanon grabbed the opening set, Lebanon answered back and eventually pulled out the 3-2 win by scores of 11-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-20, and 15-7.

Northern Lebanon came out sharp and controlled the first set from the start, rolling to a 25-11 win to put the Cedars on their heels early. Lebanon responded well in the second, however, settling into the match and evening things up with a 25-22 victory.

The Vikings answered again in the third, reclaiming the edge with a 25-22 win and moving within a set of the match. But Lebanon had another push left, and the Cedars kept the contest alive by taking the fourth set 25-20 before finishing the comeback in the fifth with a 15-7 decision.

Jaison Morales led Lebanon with 15 kills and 15 digs, while Hector Morrobel directed the offense with 43 assists. Abner Sanchez added 6 blocks, and Maurice Williams chipped in 3 aces for the Cedars.

For Northern Lebanon, Peyton Ream paced the Vikings with 12 kills and 4 aces, Justin Gonzalez-Luna handed out 23 assists, and Carlos Polanco contributed 6 blocks.

Northern Lebanon is now 5-13 and will finish its season Thursday at home against Garden Spot. Lebanon is 7-9.

The Cedars will finish their season with an away match at Manheim Central.
