ELCO Builds Toward County Meet with Strong Performances at Octorara
The ELCO girls found success in a few key areas, including the sprints, jumps, and throws. Maddie Nelson picked up a win in the 100m with a time of 12.83, while the Raiders also captured the 4x100m Relay in 53.30.
ELCO added field-event victories from Julia Wenger in the Discus at 92’9″ and Seyitan Adewale in the High Jump at 4’6″. Bre Etherson also turned in a strong day in the hurdles, placing second in both the 100m Hurdles and 300m Hurdles, while Ava Seifert scored in three events by finishing third in the 400m, third in the 800m, and third in the Javelin.
The Raiders also got valuable distance points from Paityn Newswanger and Miller, who finished second and third in the 3200m, while Addison Mays added a third-place finish in the 100m Hurdles and a runner-up showing in the Long Jump. ELCO’s field-event depth also showed up with Kenzie Eckhart placing second in the Shot Put, Kayla Edris taking second in the Pole Vault, Kenzi Gery sharing second in the High Jump, and Alexa Shanaman earning second in the Javelin.
Octorara’s top performances came from Stowe Wilson, who swept both hurdle races, Giana Falgiatore, who won the 400m and 200m while adding a second-place finish in the 100m, and Maggie Holub, who won both the 1600m and 800m. Victoria Donovan also gave Octorara a big lift in the jumps, winning both the Long Jump and Triple Jump.

The ELCO boys found more of their success in the field, where the Raiders picked up four first-place finishes. Ethan Bretzius led the way there with a win in the Shot Put at 42’3″, while Avery Kurtz took the Discus with a throw of 128’1″ and added a second-place finish in the Shot Put. Sam Keener also delivered a first-place finish by clearing 12’0″ in the Pole Vault.
ELCO also picked up relay wins in both the 4x800m Relay and 4x100m Relay. The Raiders opened the boys meet by winning the 4x800m in 8:32.43 and later added the 4x100m in 45.18. Ben Macchione turned in a strong race in the 800m, placing second in 2:11.06, while Wyatt Gawrys added a third-place finish in the 100m.
The Raiders got more field-event points from Kunne and Ambris, who placed second and third in the Triple Jump, while Pyska and Weaver went second and third in the Javelin. Mason Yoder also chipped in with a third-place finish in the Long Jump, M. Frederick scored with a third-place run in the 1600m, and Eddie Pena added a third-place showing in the 300m Hurdles.
Octorara’s depth on the track proved decisive. Vincent Thaler won the 110m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, and High Jump, while Hector Vergara took both sprints and the Long Jump. Daniel Bishop swept the 1600m and 800m, and the Braves also controlled the 3200m and 4x400m Relay.

The ELCO boys are now 3-2, while the girls are 4-1. They will be back in action on Friday at the Lebanon County Championship Meet before returning to dual meet action on Monday with a trip to Northern Lebanon.
