First Pitch

Our week 3 roundup highlights games from February 17 to February 25, 2025 as some games were posted late and many were moved due to weather. We strive to provide the best possible recaps on what players are doing. Presto Sports, the stats provider for the National Junior College Athletic Association continues to have problems in reporting scores. Much of the information on our JuCo guys is found in Gamechanger and other sources.

Junior infielder Deklyn Marks started off his 2025 campaign in fine style, collecting his first collegiate home run (Video) and nearly taking down a school record. Batting second and playing second in the second game of a two game set, Marks notched a 3 for 3 day including a three run home run with six RBI, one shy of the Lions record, as Albright rolled up Penn State Hazelton 11-1 and 14-3 (Game Story and Box Score). Marks entered the season with a .286 average across two seasons, having had a phenomenal freshman season before a couple of injuries in 2024. With performances like Sunday, Marks will make filling out the lineup card difficult for Coach Justin Perry. The Lions travel to Mount Saint Mary’s for a neutral site turf field matchup with Gettysburg this weekend.

JuCo grad/Junior LHP Caleb Fisher drew “Game One” stating pitching honors for the Marywood Pacers as they opened with Rosemont College at neutral site Devon Prep in Devon PA. Fisher worked around a pair of hits and a pair of walks allowing one run to pick up his first NCAA win. Fisher departed with an 8-1 lead in a bullpen game as Marywood swept Rosemont 15-1 and 8-5 (Game Story and Box Score).

Season Stats  / Upcoming Schedule

Senior 1B Dylan Beard continued to pace the Falcon offense this weekend, contributing in all three games versus #16 Randolph-Macon as Messiah continues with a brutal opening of seven games against ranked teams. Coming off a 3-10 weekend against #11 Christopher Newport, Beard was 1-4 with an RBI single and stolen base in game one, a 7-4 RMC win (Game Story and Box Score). In series game two on Sunday, Beard had one of five hits for MU in a 1-0 pitchers duel, scoring Messiah’s only run as he scampered home on an error. In game three, Messiah could not keep the momentum and fell 9-4 in a game that saw Beard extend his hitting streak to seventeen games dating back to April 2024, tallying two RBI as well (Game Story and Box Score). Messiah faces #6 Johns Hopkins on Thursday.

Fully healed from a week one rib injury, Senior Dalton Reinhart picked up two hits, two runs, and two RBI as Stevenson won their first game of the season, 12-9 over Notre Dame (MD). Reinhart’s two run double in the ninth tacked on two insurance runs for the Mustangs (Game Story and Box Score). Stevenson fell to #25 Penn State Harrisburg in the night cap, 14-7. Reinhart again had two hits and two RBI, again plating a run in the ninth, this time in a rally that fell short (Game Story and Box Score). Stevenson hosts Washington College (MD) this weekend.

Monmouth traveled to Cary NC for a three game set with Pitt, and picked up their first win against an ACC team since 2016 by virtue of a Sunday win. Beard pitched on Friday and was tagged with a loss after allowing four unearned runs, while striking out two (Game Story and Box Score). Monmouth travels to George Mason (A10) this weekend for a three game set.

Robbie Best appeared as a defensive replacement in game two of a sweep over Westmoreland CC (Box Score).

Bronson Coburn pitched a wild inning in a 14-13 win over Geneva. Victimized by his defense, he gave up nine runs, only two of which were earned and escaped with a no decision (Game Story and Box Score). He threw two innings of no run baseball on Tuesday February 25, 2025 as LBC split with Penn State Harrisburg (Game Stories and Box Scores).

Ecenroad was 0 for 2 with a walk and a run scored out of the DH position for DelVal in a 12-5 loss to Wilson (Game Story and Box Score). He played 3B on Tuesday February 25, 2025 and was 1 for 2 with a run in a 10-3 loss to PSU Brandywine (Game Story and Box Score).

JuCo RHP Dylan Fegley pitched 1-1/3 inning  in relief notching two strikeouts in relief on Sunday as Fayetteville salvaged the final game of a three game set with Lenoir CC (Recap).

In a late reported game from February 17, 2025, freshman outfielder Keegan Kleinfelter notched hit first collegiate base hit, scored one run and knocked in another as BSCC defeated Spring Hill JV 7-5 (Box Score).

Freshman RHP Ethan Lodish made his collegiate debut firing a scoreless inning against the back-to-back D3 JuCO National Champions, Rowan College of South Jersey—Gloucester as the Skipjacks fell 3-2 (Game Story and Box Score).
