Cedar Crest 66, Warwick 47 (LL Championship Finals)
Cedar Crest won the Section 1 title and, after defeating Manheim Central on Wednesday night, would have a chance at winning the 5th Lancaster Lebanon League Championship in the program’s history. In order to be crowned champions, they would have to get by an upstart Warwick squad that shocked Penn Manor in the semifinals.
After the Warriors took an early 3-0 lead, the Falcons responded with hot shooting from Leo Tirado and a block party hosted by RJ Young. At the same time, Tirado scored 7 points in the 1st quarter to give Crest a 5-point lead. The offensive cause was also aided with 6 points from Fernando Marquez. In the 2nd quarter, Crest dominated with perimeter shooting, hitting four three-pointers to take a 30-23 lead into halftime. Owen Chernich led the air raid with two threes in the quarter, including one right before the buzzer that ended the half.
In the 3rd quarter, Crest continued to hold Warwick at arm’s length as Young scored 6 points. Going into the 4th, the Falcons led 42-34 and knew they would need to close out strong to keep Warwick from making a run. The players responded, scoring 24 points in the final quarter to put the game away. The offense was led with 8 points being scored by Marquez, who even used his moves to elude getting fouled as Warwick attempted to send him to the line.
Marquez led Cedar Crest with 18 points in the game. Tirado hit three three-pointers on his way to scoring 15 points. Young totaled 11 points but was especially dominant on the defense, where he swatted away six shot attempts.
The Lancaster Lebanon League Championship is Cedar Crest’s 5th all-time and the first since 2020. It also marks the 4th time the Falcons have won the League title while being led by Coach Tommy Smith.
Cedar Crest (19-5) will now begin preparations for the opening round of the District 3 Championship Tournament, in which they will play Wilson in The Cage on Tuesday evening.

Cedar Crest 77, Octorara 32 (LL Playoff Quarterfinals)
The Section 1 Champion Cedar Crest Falcons opened the Lancaster Lebanon League Playoffs with a quarterfinal match-up against Octorara. Crest did not take any chances and hopped all over the Braves with a dominant 1st quarter performance that gave them an early 20-point lead. The opening frame was an all-out offensive assault that included three three-pointers by Leo Tirado and 6 points a piece from Fernando Marquez and Owen Chernich. Things slowed down in the 2nd quarter, but by halftime, Cedar Crest held a 42-17 lead. Out of the half, the Falcons continued to leave Octorara without any answers. RJ Young scored 6 points, including going 4-4 from the free throw line. Leading by 32 heading into the 4th, Coach Smith was able to empty his bench. Putting new personnel into the game didn’t matter, as a solid defensive effort held Octorara to just 2 points in the final period. Alex Abreu scored 6 points, while Jack Waranavage scored 5 as Crest closed out the 45-point victory.
Four Falcons finished the game in double figures. Chernich led with 14 points. Marquez and Young each had 12 points. Tirado finished the game with 11 points.
