On Thursday night, the Palm City Cougars traveled to Red Land and pulled an upset over the #1 team in the Keystone Division with a resounding 40-27 victory. This result may be the biggest win for the program in the 2000s and comes just days after Red Land defeated Palmyra by 5 at the Grizzly Duals.
Recognition for the Outstanding Wrestler of the evening went to Mason Bucks. With less than a minute remaining in the match and the score tied 3-3, Mason hit a 5-point defensive throw from his feet, winning by pin in the final seconds. Mason’s win secured the overall team victory with 3 matches remaining.
Other outstanding performances during the match came courtesy of Josh Smith 114, Nate Foltz 121, Logan Brown 145, and Kadin Jones 189 … all winning by fall.
The Cougar Wrestlers are now the #1 team in the Keystone Division and control their own destiny moving forward in the season. First year head coach Jon Regets said, “The team is getting healthy and the young men are starting to believe in what the coaching staff knew from day one of the season.” Things are beginning to get exciting in Palm City.
