Softball: Vikings Leave No Doubt, Power Past Manheim Central to Claim Section 3 Crown

Winners of three straight games, Northern Lebanon traveled to Manheim Central on Monday with a chance to clinch the Section 3 Championship.

The Vikings left no doubt.

Behind a 13-hit attack and a strong effort from Sophia Roye in the circle, Northern Lebanon rolled to a 17-1 win over Manheim Central in three innings, securing the Section 3 title.

Addison Hollenbach helped lead the offense, collecting 3 hits in 4 at-bats. She singled in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, and singled again during the Vikings’ big 3rd inning.

Northern Lebanon wasted no time taking control. In the top of the 1st, Hollenbach singled to bring home the first run, Roye followed with an RBI double, and Makenzie West doubled to drive in two more runs, giving the Vikings a 4-0 lead.

The Vikings added two more runs in the 2nd when Addison Kubica singled down the left field line to make it 6-0.

Northern Lebanon then broke the game open with an 11-run 3rd inning. Ryleigh Hopkins drew a bases-loaded walk, Stephanie Palkovic singled in a run, and two Manheim Central errors helped the Vikings keep the inning moving. Alyssa Shirey added a two-run single, Mykenah Johnson followed with a two-run double, West hit a sacrifice fly, and Hollenbach capped the inning with a two-run single.

Roye took care of the rest in the circle. She allowed just 1 hit and 1 unearned run over 3.0 innings while striking out 4 and walking 2.

The Vikings finished with 13 hits, with Hollenbach, West, and Kubica each driving in 3 runs. Roye and Palkovic each added multiple hits, while Northern Lebanon also took advantage of 4 Manheim Central errors.

For Manheim Central, Abby Logan had the Barons’ lone hit and drove in their only run.

Northern Lebanon (13-3) will host Cocalico on Tuesday.
