Deeks Deals, Noll Sparks ELCO Shutout Win as Raiders Strengthen Playoff Push

ELCO entered Monday’s matchup against Garden Spot hoping to make it two wins in a row as the Raiders continue their final push toward the District 3 playoffs.

Behind a dominant outing from Kenzie Deeks in the circle and a balanced offense that broke through in the middle innings, ELCO earned an 8-0 win over the Spartans.

Deeks led the way in the circle, striking out 13 batters while allowing just 3 hits over 6.2 shutout innings. Makayla Nollcame on in relief and recorded the final out, inducing a flyout to finish off the combined shutout.

ELCO got on the board in the bottom of the 2nd when Madelynn Henry drew a walk to bring home the game’s first run.

The Raiders extended the lead in the 3rd. Justine Geyer delivered an RBI double, and Layla Werner followed with another RBI double as ELCO scored 3 runs in the inning to move ahead 4-0.

ELCO kept adding on from there, scoring 2 more runs in the 5th before Noll delivered the biggest swing of the day in the 6th. With the Raiders already in control, Noll hit an inside-the-park home run to bring home 2 runs and stretch the lead to 8-0.

Geyer led ELCO’s offense by going 3-for-4 with 2 RBI, while Noll finished with 2 hits and 2 RBI. Chloe Shirk, Werner, and Kylie Cruz also collected hits for the Raiders.

For Garden Spot, Faith Craft, Kelsey Longacre, and Marlee Buckwalter each had one hit. Longacre took the loss in the circle, allowing 8 runs, 5 earned, on 8 hits over 6.0 innings while striking out 8.

ELCO (11-6) is currently holding the final District 3 playoff spot with 3 games remaining. The Raiders will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to Manheim Central.
