Cedar Crest Breaks Through Against Penn Manor for Fifth Straight Win
Winners of four straight, Cedar Crest entered Monday looking to make it five in a row. However, standing in their way was a Penn Manor team that the Falcons had never beaten. Playing at home, Cedar Crest rose to the challenge and delivered another strong performance, defeating the Comets for the fist time by a score of 10-6 to keep its hot streak going.
Avery Lechleitner led the Falcons offensively with 4 goals and 1 assist, while Samantha Brown added 3 goals. Bella Paquette also played a major role in the attack, finishing with 2 goals and 3 assists, and Olivia Ryland chipped in 1 goal as Cedar Crest made the most of its scoring chances.
The Falcons also got steady support throughout the lineup, with Paquette and Lechleitner accounting for all 4 of Cedar Crest’s assists. Cedar Crest finished with 17 shots and controlled enough of the game offensively to stay in front against a Penn Manor side that managed 14 shots of its own.
On the defensive end, Viola Bierman came up with 8 saves in goal to help the Falcons secure the win. Penn Manor got 2 goals from Joelle Kroesen, while Alison Smith, Audrey Boyce, Reagan Gerlach, and Misty Railing each scored once. Goalie Makenzie Wolpert made 7 saves for the Comets.
Cedar Crest, now 7-2, will host Conestoga Valley on Wednesday.
