Help us decide which male and female athlete should be honored for their outstanding efforts during last week’s local high school sports action. While you may have a favorite school or athlete already, we still encourage you to read through the lists below and then click on the link to vote.
The winners will be announced at the end of the week. Linked below are the articles about our most recent winners of the award.
Voting will remain open until Wednesday at 10 pm.
One vote per email address, per day will be allowed.
While athletes can be nominated multiple weeks, the winners will be removed and updates will be provided as the season progresses.
While this may be a vote and emotions can run high, this is intended to bring attention to some of the best performances from our local student-athletes.
Nominations, which are made working with the schools, are listed below in alphabetical order.
Please read about each nominee, celebrate their accomplishment, and then go vote who you feel is most deserving of this week’s honor.

Female Nominees
Kailah Correa (Lebanon / Sr.) – Basketball: The Cedars went 2-0 last week with wins over Lancaster Catholic & Hempfield. Correa scored 10 points against the Crusaders before erupting for 23 points against the Black Knights. Known as a prolific scorer, the senior is also averaging 5 assists per game, helping to create for fellow scoring threats. This week, Correa is expected to eclipse 2,000 points for her career.
Makenna Haas (ELCO / Sr.) – Indoor Track & Field: At Sunday’s Lancaster Lebanon League PAL Indoor Track and Field Challenge, the senior won the Triple Jump with a new meet record (35’11.25”). In the Long Jump, Haas placed 5th (16’7.25”).
Riley Hatzfeld (Our Lady of the Cross / Sr.) – Basketball: In just her 31st varsity game, Hatzfeld scored 29 against Veritas Academy on her way to reaching the 1,000 point milestone for her career. In two other games last week, Hatzfeld scored 37 & 33 points. In a hard-fought loss to Lancaster Country Day, the senior successfully knocked down six three-pointers. Her scoring effort has the Lions on the precipice of qualifying for Districts for the second time in the two-year history of the program.
Sadie Ostermayer (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Wrestling: At Sunday’s Upper Dauphin Lady Trojan Invitational, Ostermayer went 4-2 to claim 4th place in the 136-pound weight class. Three of her victories came by way of pinfall, with the fastest match ending in :41. Ostermayer, who claimed 4th at the LL Championships, is now 20-8 this season.
Addi Salus (Palmyra / Jr.) – Basketball: The Lady Cougars went 2-1 last week, improving their overall standing within the District 3 Power Rankings. Salus was a big reason for the wins, averaging 13.7 points per game. In a statement win over Hempfield, Salus scored 15 points to lead the team.
Past Winner Update: Liliana Harrison (Lebanon /Sr.) – Basketball: In Tuesday’s win over Lancaster Catholic, Harrison scored 21 points and eclipsed the 1,000 point mark for her career. She is also closing in on the 1,000 rebound milestone, as she currently sits with 972 career boards.
Past Winner Update: Qynne Demler (New Covenant /Fr.) – Basketball: In three victories last week, Demler averaged 31 points per game. Her highest total was a 37 point performance as the Flames defeated Harrisburg Christian for their 8th straight win.
Male Nominees
Hayden Adams (Northern Lebanon / Sr.) – Wrestling: Competing at 285 pounds, Adams went 4-0 last week to help the Vikings to a 3rd place finish in the District 3 AA Team Championships. Each of the senior’s matches ended with him pinning his opponents. His quickest match ended in just :25. Adams is now 30-7 this season.
Nick Gordon (Palmyra / Fr.) – Wrestling: At the Falcon Invitational, the freshman pinned his first three opponents on his way to the 121-pound gold medal match. In the finals, he defeated a 96-win senior from Central Bucks East with an 8-5 victory. Gordon is now 24-8 on the season.
Alex Hart (New Covenant / Fr.) – Basketball: Last Tuesday, the Flames came from behind to take the 54-51 victory over West Shore Christian. Leading the way was Hart, scoring 17 & hauling in 12 rebounds. The freshman also added 3 steals in the win.
Omar Milete (Lebanon / Sr.) – Bowling: Against Cedar Crest, Milete opened his second game with six straight strikes on his way to a 225. That effort, which led to a 577 series, helped the Cedars take the second game from the Falcons (912-882). In the season’s final match against Conestoga Valley, Milete tallied career highs with a 234 game and 582 series.
Jonathon Shay (Annville-Cleona / Sr.) – Basketball: The senior led the Dutchmen with 24 points as they defeated Columbia last Friday night. Shay also had 14 points earlier in the week in a tight loss to Lancaster Country Day.
Zane Trostle (ELCO / Sr.) – Wrestling: Last week in the District 3 AAA Team Wrestling Championships, Trostle won each of his matches to propel ELCO to a 3rd place finish and the program’s first-ever berth to the PIAA State Championship Tournament. Wrestling at 121 pounds and providing the Raiders solid performances all season, the senior went 4-0 at Districts and improved his season record to 25-10.
RJ Young (Cedar Crest / Sr.) – Basketball: The senior had a big week as the Falcons went 1-1. Against defending Central York, the defending State Champion, Young had 20 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, & 2 blocks. He then followed it up with an outstanding performance in the win over Manheim Township, putting together a line of 23 points (11-12 FG), 7 rebounds, & 2 blocks.
