#2 Northern Lebanon 11, #7 Middletown 1 (4A Quarterfinals)

After earning the #2 seed with a 17-3 regular season record, Northern Lebanon hosted #7 Middletown in the 1st round of the District 3 Playoffs. The Vikings did not waste any time showing that they were ready for the postseason, putting up five 1st inning runs on the Blue Raiders. Three more runs in the 2nd inning made the score 8-0. One more run in the 4th inning, followed by two in the 5th, allowed the home team to walk it off under the mercy rule with an 11-1 victory.

Abby Palkovic led the offensive effort with a three-run home run in the 1st inning. Kiera Anspach added two RBI in the game. Carley Umbrell added one RBI. As a team, Northern Lebanon drew eight bases on balls, with four more batters reaching after being hit by pitches. Given the unpredictable nature of the pitches, the Vikings showed great plate discipline and only struck out three times.

Lynsie Mauser pitched all five innings, giving up two hits and one run. She struck out ten, including the 300th of her career.

Northern Lebanon will now host #6 Trinity in the District 3 Semifinal. That game will take place on Tuesday at 4:30 pm. The winner will not only advance to the District 3 Finals, but will also secure a State Playoff berth.

#5 Kennard-Dale 12, #4 ELCO 3 (4A Quarterfinals)

ELCO’s fantastic season came to an end as they hosted a District 3 Playoff Softball game for the first time in program history. The Raiders went up 2-0 on a Morgan Wilson home run and a Chloe Shirk RBI triple, but it would not be enough once Kennard-Dale got going.
