Track & Field: At Pan-Ram Invite, Palmyra Boys Finish 1st, Girls 4th

Thirty-nine teams took part in the 35th annual Pan-Ram Track & Field Invitational at Central Dauphin on Saturday. The Palmyra Cougars were not only there, but made their presence felt with the Boys Team finishing 1st and the Girls finishing 4th in the team standings. The outstanding effort resulted in Palmyra’s athletes winning gold in four individual events and three relays.

On the girls’ side, the Cougars claimed twelve medals. The day was highlighted by Abby Berarducci‘s 1600m race, where she ran a 5:16.9 to take 1st. The senior distance runner then took 8th in the 800m with a 2:29.7. Elaina Potter cleared 9’6″ in the Pole Vault to take bronze.

The Palmyra Boys accomplished their team victory through a mix of top-end individual talent combined with depth that allowed them to sweep gold in all three relays. Cougars also won three individual events, with Tyler Burgess taking both hurdles and Mason Bucks winning the Pole Vault. Burgess, a junior who medaled in both events at States last season, won the Pan-Ram by running a 14.32 in the 110m Hurdles and a 39.28 in the 300m Hurdles. His 14.32 is the 2nd best time run in Pennsylvania this season. He was joined on the podium by teammate Jonathan McDannell, who finished 2nd in the 110m race before adding a 7th place finish in the 300m. Mason Bucks, last year’s State silver medalist in the Pole Vault, won his signature event with a 13’6″ in brutal, windy conditions. In total, the Cougars claimed thirteen medals.

Below are the results for every Palmyra athlete, with the medal winners highlighted in red and the gold medalists bolded.
