Girls Basketball: Results Tracker – December 1-2

Saturday, December 2

ELCO 51, Hamburg 26

After defeating Annville-Cleona on Friday evening, the ELCO Raiders played against Hamburg, the host team of the Hamburg Tip Off Tournament. The Raiders used a strong first quarter, outscoring the Hawks 20-8, to build a lead from which they would not look back. In that quarter, Kenzie Eckhart scored 10 points and Maddie Stout chipped in with two three-pointers. ELCO continued their domination in the 2nd quarter, holding Hamburg to just 3 points, while their offense scored 16 to take a 36-11 lead into halftime. The final half of play was played more evenly with the Raiders going on to win, 51-26. 

Eckhart and Makenna Seifert each scored 13 points in the contest, earning All-Tournament honors.  Stout finished the game with 9 points on a trio of three-pointers. In total, the Raiders hit nine threes in the game.

ELCO (2-0) will next play on Tuesday when they travel to historic Martz Hall to play Pottsville.

Annville-Cleona 52, Tri-Valley 23

After a tough loss on Friday to ELCO, Annville-Cleona was tasked with taking on Tri Valley in the consolation round of the Hamburg Tip Off Tournament. The Dutchmen were either unphased or completely motivated as a result of Friday night, as they dominated this game from start to finish. The big moment of the game came when the Dutchmen came out of the half leading 25-10 and poured in 21 points in the 3rd quarter to build a 27-point lead prior to the final frame. Overall, it was a balanced attack from Annville, with Ava Hoover scoring in all four quarters and leading the way with 14 points.  Kendall Cooper contributed 11 in the winning effort.

Annville (1-1) is back in action on Tuesday when they take a road trip to take on Upper Dauphin.

Friday, December 1

ELCO 53, Annville-Cleona 29

At the Hamburg Invitational, the Raiders defeated the Dutchmen in what served as the season opener for both teams.  ELCO was led in the scoring department by Kenzie Eckhart with 17 points, 15 of which came in the 2nd half of action.  Makenna Seifert added 16 points in the winning effort.  One of the key stats for ELCO was that they had 16 offensive rebounds. Annville’s leading scorers were Ainsley Sellers with 9 and Kendall Cooper with 8.

ELCO will play Hamburg in tomorrow’s final, while Annville will play Tri-Valley.

Cedar Crest 25, Manheim Central 22

The Falcons were on the road at Manheim Central’s Doe Run Elementary to open the season.  After trailing 11-6 through the 1st half, Crest scored 15 points in the 3rd quarter to break away from the Barons. Lizzie Lowe’s 6 points led a balanced Falcon offense. Allie Metzgar and Susie Hoffman each added 5 points to the winning cause.

Cedar Crest will next play on Tuesday when they travel to Wilson.
