Freshman Leads Cedars to Lebanon Holiday Tournament Championship

LEBANON – The Lebanon Cedars girls’ basketball team won the championship of its own holiday tournament on Wednesday night, beating the McCaskey Tornados by a score of 55-43. Lebanon freshman Kailah Correa lead all scorers with 24 points.

The Tornados scored the first points of the game, leading 3-0. Then, Cedar Dorthie Zechman made a foul shot and a field goal to tie the game at three. The score at the end of the first quarter was 11-3 in favor of Lebanon.

In the second quarter, Lebanon’s Olivia Uffner started the quarter off with two big threes. Correa, Zechman and Mikayla Harrison scored for the Cedars, keeping them in the lead, 32-17.

In the third quarter, McCaskey went on a run. The quarter ended with the Cedars up 39-30.

Correa lead the Cedars in the fourth quarter, making a few clutch buckets. It was a tight game, but the Lebanon Cedars were able to take the win with a final score of a 55-43.

The MVP of the tournament was awarded to Correa. Lebanon also had two other players on the all-tournament team, Dorthie Zechman and Liliana Harrison.
