Vikings, Raiders, & Cedars Wrap Up Section Play at Moccasin Run

The Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3 golf schedule reached its conclusion Wednesday at Moccasin Run Golf Club, with the final round confirming much of what had developed throughout the season.

Lampeter-Strasburg completed a perfect run through the section, while Northern Lebanon wrapped up a winning campaign with another third-place finish.

L-S posted a 320 to sweep the field for the sixth time in six matches. Donegal finished second at 344, with Northern Lebanon just two strokes behind at 346. ELCO took fourth with a 359, followed by Octorara at 370 and Lebanon at 483.

For Northern Lebanon, the final result capped a solid run through a competitive Section 3 schedule.

Sophomore Ashton Yeager led the Vikings with an 82, while junior Collin Padovani was close behind with an 84. Sophomore Christian Rizzo added an 89, and junior Drew Shireman completed Northern Lebanon’s four counting scores with a 91.

The 346 left the Vikings only two strokes behind Donegal and gave Northern Lebanon three more head-to-head victories. The Vikings finished the Section 3 schedule at 17-13, good for third place in the final standings.

It also completed a fourth consecutive winning season for Northern Lebanon, which entered the year looking to continue building a young lineup around Padovani, last year’s No. 2 golfer in Section 3 and a District qualifier.

ELCO also ended the section season on a positive note, finishing fourth Wednesday and picking up two victories.

Senior James Dolan led the Raiders with an 85, followed by sophomore Jackson Smeltzer at 88. Senior Grant Wengershot 92, while Brady Habecker added a 94 to complete ELCO’s 359.

The Raiders finished the Section 3 schedule at 11-19.

Lebanon had four golfers in the lineup for the finale, allowing the Cedars to post a team score for the second time this season.

Junior Trinity Leeper led Lebanon with a 103, while Noah Cotto shot 110. Freshman Braden Mease added a 124, and Landyn Strickler completed the Cedars’ 483 with a 146.

At the front of the field, Lampeter-Strasburg put the finishing touches on a dominant section season.

Reid Shultz fired a 75 to earn medalist honors, while Gabe Trout followed with a 79. Chase Harsh shot 81 and Simon Swarr added an 85, giving the Pioneers their winning 320.

The victory completed a perfect 30-0 Section 3 campaign for L-S. Donegal finished runner-up at 23-7, followed by Northern Lebanon at 17-13, ELCO at 11-19, Octorara at 9-21, and Lebanon at 0-30.

With the section schedule now complete, attention turns toward the postseason.
